VI.ASC Chair Report –First off I want to thank you all for electing me to be your chair for the coming year. I had noticed a lot of cross-talk at the ASC meeting this month. I would like to see less of this in the future….let’s try to remember why we are there. I would also want to note that as the donation from the area as per page 5 lines 27-29. In this case it brings us down below prudent reserve. If you would like to amend this or delete it please bring a motion to the next ASC. We also had to get the newsletter chair to step down. So we are now looking for a new newsletter chair. Also we need Sub-committee budgets for next year and don’t forget to enclose last years. ILS Gary2

X. RCM Report- I have nothing really to report as next week I will be representing South Broward Area for the first time at the South Florida Regional meeting. I appreciate the confirmation to this position and I will do all that I can to serve this area. I look forward to a productive and memorable year ogf service. Open forum: A question about referrals when answering helpline calls was discussed.
Public Relations: South Broward ASC has changed this subcommittee name from helpline/public information to Helpline/Public Relations
Shifts are all covered with 4 hour main shifts and 3 backups. System is still one box.
Old Business: Portuguese Helpline; they still have to meet with Forest to tape the Portuguese message.

H&I- Greetings from H&I Sub Committee:
Our last meeting was at 6:30p.m. on Tuesday August 18th, 2009 at St. Johns Church, 1750 Buchanan St. Hollywood. We will meet at the same location on September 15th.
We currently have 25 H&I meetings in 12 facilities.
(1) On Aug. 31st, the regional H&I chair, Dean B., Rob M., and other area H&I committee reps had a meeting with Judge Beach and staff of Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO). We should have more information regarding the restructuring of the BSO programs and how it will affect the meetings we are currently bringing into their institutions.
(2)Last month the H&I subcommittee purchased and paid for 200 meeting lists that were left behind and would appreciate being provided the lists at this time.

1.Paul Rein Detention Facility D-5: Monday at 7p.m. (needs co-chair)
