Dear Parents:

Next Step Scout Training for Adults and Parents
Blackhawk Area Council is organizing a one-day training conference where all of the “Basic Leader Trainings” will be offered at one location. There will be something of value for every parent and Scout Leader.
Our youth deserve the best Scouting Program they can get. “The Next Step” conference is a time for all Parents and Scouters to learn what’s new, and to share some of their experiences with others.
This can be accomplished by our Leaders taking “The Next Step” to better Scouting.
New Parents – We have a special series just for you. You will enjoy it and your time in Scouting will be much more fun for you and the Scouts.

Next District Round Table Meeting – The next Round Table will be on November 12at 7:00 p.m. at GraceLutheranChurch in Woodstock. It is a great opportunity for the leaders to gain additional information from the district.

Night of the Mafekingthe fall Sycamore Camporee was be held October 2 thru 4. The theme this year was in celebration of the 100th Anniversary of Scouting. The outing was exciting. Mafeking was the first big event that helped make Baden Powel a famous man. The Troops and Patrols were being judged on things all weekend. The Troops were graded on camp set up and proper things at the site. There were 15 events set up to compete in by the Patrols. Our Troop had two Patrols. They made it to many of the events and between the two Patrols placed in seven of the events. The boys had to function as Patrols without the leaders tagging along. I had people tell me that our boys work well together and did not fight and argue. This was observed by other leaders and staff during the intire weekend.

Our Webelo Campout is scheduled for Nov 14th and 15th. This year we will be at the Hollows on the West side of Cary off Rt 14.. We will be having the Webelos come at 200 in the afternoon with the opportunity to camp overnight. I our Scouts can camp out Friday night also, the 13th.

The November Activity will be at Eagle Cave in Blue River Wisconsin. November 21st, 22nd At this camp out we sleep in a cave. The boys are given plenty of time to explore and get dirty. Info at web site _ .
