AHOUSE RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE LATTA HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL TEAM FOR AN OUTSTANDING SEASON AND TO CONGRATULATE THE PLAYERSON WINNING THE 2015 CLASS A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.
Whereas, on May 22, 2015, the Latta High School baseball team grabbed top honors at the state title series, ending a 64contest that saw the Vikings hold off a comeback by the Lewisville Lions; and
Whereas, Latta picked up one run in the top of the first and held the lead until the bottom of the fourth, when the Lions scored their first run. Lewisville pulled ahead 41 with three runs in the bottom of the fifth, but the Vikings responded with five runs in the fifth to capture the win; and
Whereas, John Kever Love earned the win on the mound, pitching a complete game with seven hits, four runs, one earned run, three walks, one wild pitch, and one hit by pitch, striking out eleven; and
Whereas, at bat, Eric McGirt scored one run on a walk; Cledus Williams went 1for4 with a home run, two RBIs, and one run; and Jackson Williams went 2for3 with a home run, one RBI, and two runs scored. Also, John Kever Love went 2for3 with a double and one RBI; Caleb Mishue drew a walk; Austin Miller went 1for3 with a double, one RBI, and one run; Jonathan Ray went 1for3 with a double and one RBI; and Noah Moody scored one run; and
Whereas, using his own considerable athletic training and skills, Coach Donald Cribbbuilt his players into championship caliber and encouraged them not to settle for second best; and
Whereas, proud of these fine student athletes, the South Carolina House of Representativesappreciates the recognition the Latta High School baseball players have brought to their school and community, and the members look to hear of many more victories for the school in coming seasons. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor the Latta High School baseball team for an outstanding season and congratulate the playerson winning the 2015Class AState Championship title.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presentedto PrincipalLeigh Sloan and Coach Donald Cribb of Latta High School.
