Rachel Fankhauser’s Chorus and Quartet - A message from our sisters in Region 4: The “Voice of America” Chorus is excited to announce our first show ever on Sunday, September 25th, and we hope you will come celebrate with us. Entitled “Sundae at the VOA”, the show will include a wide variety of musical and comedy acts guaranteed to bring equal parts laughter and song to the event. Set in a 1950’s/’60’s-style diner that is about to go “belly up”, the owner enlists the help of a streetwise fellow to audition acts that might become future entertainment for the diner.
Performers will include barbershop quartets such as Fortḗ, current third place Johnny Appleseed District winners and Uptown Sound, the 2011 Sweet Adeline Region 4 fifth place medalists. Other acts to include everything from a guitar group, a flute/piano duet, and a group of young singers from Adena Elementary School in West Chester, Ohio. The Chorus will be dressed in ’50’s diner attire and perform a variety of songs, including its first place award-winning package from last April’s regional competition. A 50/50 split-the-pot raffle, door prizes and ice cream sundaes made with homemade ice cream will add to the fun. A fabulous show plus dessert - what could be better than that?
Showtime is 3:00 p.m. and ticket prices are $20.00in advance or at the door. A cash bar with beer, wine and soft drinks will be provided. An Afterglow will be held immediately following at the same location and will feature many of the acts from the show, with a $2.00 suggested donation for pizza. The venue is the Ronald Reagan Lodge located at the lovely Voice of America Park, 7850 VOA Park Drive, in West Chester Township, West Chester, OH. Parking at the Lodge is secure and handicapped accessible and entrance into the park is included in the ticket price. For further show or ticket information, please call 513-325-5989.
