A RESOLUTION honoring the Marshall County High School Band for its participation in the 2005 Presidential Inauguration Parade.

WHEREAS, the Marshall County High School "Marching Marshalls" Band participated in the 2005 Presidential Inauguration Parade in Washington, D. C. on January 20, 2005; and

WHEREAS, the talented members of the Marshall County High School "Marching Marshalls" Band comprised one of approximately 50 high school and college bands invited to the Inaugural Parade, and they exhibited to the President and the citizens of these United States their eloquent musical and rhythmic skills as they marched from Capitol Hill, down Pennsylvania Avenue, and past the White House, where hundreds of thousands of spectators watched, and while millions watched on their televisions; and

WHEREAS, the band members raised the funds to attend the 2005 Inaugural Parade through their "Marshalls March to D. C." donation drive, and they are to be commended for their successful fundraising; and during their stay, they toured the National American Indian Museum, the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, and the WWII, Korean, Vietnam, Roosevelt, and Lincoln memorials; and

WHEREAS, the Marshall County High School "Marching Marshalls" Band Director of Bands, Michael Colvett, and his assistant, Ronnie Payton, are to be recognized for their genius in leadership and instruction;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The House of Representatives does hereby hail and applaud the Marshall County High School "Marching Marshalls" Band for their excellent performance in the 2005 Inaugural Parade, and Band Director Michael Colvett and Assistant Band Director Ronnie Payton are to be congratulated for their superb leadership achievements. We are proud and honored to recognize this excellent band that represented the Commonwealth of Kentucky so eloquently.

Section 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in honor of the Marshall County High School "Marching Marshalls" Band.

Section 3. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to the Marshall County High School "Marching Marshalls" Band, c/o Michael Colvett, Director of Bands, 416 High School Road, Benton, Kentucky 42025.
