CONTACT: Keith Yost, Secondary Curriculum, 713-556-6823 or Rosena García, Career & Technical Education, 713-556-6989

If your campus is planning to offer a new course that is not currently in the master catalog, it is necessary to submit an application for approval through the Secondary Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Department. This includes any local, state elective or dual credit courses that will be offered for the first time on your campus. Any existing high school course that will become a dual credit course also requires an application for approval. Please see the link below for the application. The application with supporting documentation is due February 28, 2012.

An application from your school will start the process. The application must be signed by the principal and submitted to the Secondary Curriculum Department with all supporting documents. The appropriate content manager will review the content objectives, course syllabus, and rationale for the request, the text/resource materials, and the evaluation of student outcomes. If approved, the content manager will forward the request on to the HISD District Master Course Catalog Manager for final processing and inclusion in the course catalog. Campuses will be notified of approval status by March 10, 2012. The 2012-2013 Master Catalog will be published by March 31, 2012. Published courses will be available for all schools to offer at the appropriate grade levels, unless specified in the catalog.

All applications should be sent to the attention of Keith Yost. Applications can be faxed to 713-556-6899, or mailed to the Secondary Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Department. Incomplete applications will not be accepted. The link to access the application form is:
