LIGHTNING “LEARN-TO-SWIM” LESSONS
FALL 2014
What: Lightning “Learn-to-swim” lessons are for children ages 4 – 8 years old that are comfortable in the water but not quite ready for a competitive swim team environment. Lesson groups are small in size (4-6 students per instructor). Swim lessons are open to the public. You do not have to be a Lower Moreland Swimming & Diving member to attend. After an initial staff evaluation, students will be grouped into the following levels:
Level 1: Bubbles
Level 2: Floating
Level 3: Kicking
Level 4: Crawl Stroke
Level 5: Freestyle (Crawl with rotary breathing) and Backstroke
Level 6: Breaststroke and Butterfly
Goals: For each swimmer to learn water safety and drown prevention skills, have fun (of course!), and learn about Lower Moreland Swimming & Diving.
When: Two (2) 30-minute classes each week for 6 weeks. Sessions run Sept 29th through Nov 6th
Class option 1: Monday & Wednesday 4:15-4:45p
Class option 2: Tuesday & Thursday 4:15-4:45p
Where: Lower Moreland High School Pool, 555 Red Lion Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006
Cost: $120 per 6 week session. There will be no refunds for any session days you might miss.

Lower Moreland Swimming & Diving Waiver/Release
WARNING OF RISK- Swimming and Diving are sports that challenge and engage the physical, mental and emotional resources of each participant. However, despite careful and proper instruction, conditioning and preparation, there is still a risk of serious injury, including but not limited to drowning, head/brain injury, and cervical spine injury. Understandably, not all hazards and dangers can be foreseen. The very nature of aquatic sports is hazardous, including but not limited to fatigue, horseplay in and around the pool area, slipping or falling on the deck or within the locker room facilities and all other circumstances inherent to the sports of swimming and diving. In this regard, it must be recognized that it is impossible for the Lower Moreland Lightning to guarantee absolute safety.
WAIVER AND RELEASE OF ALL CLAIMS AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK- Please read this form carefully and be aware that in signing up and participating you will be expressly assuming the risk and legal liability and waiving and releasing all claims for injuries, damages or loss which you or your minor child/ward might sustain as a result of participating in any and all activities connected with and associated with said programs/activities.
I/we recognize and acknowledge that there are certain risks of physical injury to myself or my minor child/ward, and I/we voluntarily agree to assume the full risk of any and all injuries, damages or loss, regardless of severity, that my minor child/ward or I/we may sustain as a result of said participation. I/we further agree to waive and relinquish all claims my minor child/ward or I/we may have as a result of participating in these programs/ activities against the Lower Moreland Swimming & Diving including its Parent’s Board of Directors, volunteers and Coaching Staff (hereinafter collectively referred to as LMSD).
I/we do hereby full release and forever discharge the LMSD from any and all claims for injuries, damages or loss that my minor child/ward or I/we may have or which may accrue to me or my minor child/ward and arising out of, connected with, or in any way associated with these programs/activities.
I/we have read and fully understand the above important information, warning of risk, assumption of risk and waiver and release of all claims. Participant’s signature (18 years or older) or Parent/Guardian must sign in the space provided. Waiver/Release of Liability will be binding on my spouse, my heirs, my personal representatives, my assigns, my children, any guardian, and me for said children.
I/we acknowledge that I/we have read this Parent Authorization and Waiver/Release of Liability and that I/we understand the words and the language in it. I/we also understand that this Parent Authorization and Waiver/Release of liability is valid for the duration of time that my child participates with LMSD unless rescinded through my written instructions. I/we recognize this entire Release means I/we are giving up, among other things, rights to sue the LMSD, its employees and agents for injuries, damages, or losses my/our child may incur.
