What is a Charitable Challenge?

A Charitable Challenge is a matching grant offered by a donor to a specific nonprofit organization during the Give Where You Live campaign. Charitable Challenges are established to encourage your donors to be more generous to your specific organization.

Who secures the Charitable Challenge?

Anyone involved in your nonprofit organization can secure a Charitable Challenge for your cause. The donation can come from a major donor, a corporate sponsor or any other super fan.

How can this help your organization?

A Charitable Challenge can help boost your fundraising efforts by promoting your matching grant on Razoo and in your marketing. When you secure a Charitable Challenge from a major donor, people are more likely to give to your cause knowing their donation will have twice the impact. A matching grant also gives you the opportunity to recognize your grantor for their generosity.

Where can you find a matching grant for the day?

Core supporters and major gift donors are the best place to start when looking for a matching grant:

-Board members

-Past or existing donors

-Businessess that support your cause

Does the grantor have to make their Charitable Challenge matching gift through Razoo?

No. The donor will receive an email inviting them to fulfill their match through Razoo; however, there is no obligation to do it this way. They may pay for their match via cash, check or credit card. (Just be aware that if the match is not made through Razoo on December 1, it will not affect your organization’s “total raised”.) In order for these gifts to be eligible for the matching funds offered by KACF, the gift must be received and entered by the Kearney Area Community Foundation staff by 7 p.m., December 1. Contact Angie or Judi at (308) 237-3114 for more information.

How does it work?

In order to administer a Charitable Challenge for your organization, you need to:

1)Secure a Charitable Challenge from a major donor, corporate sponsor, or super fan. It is a best practice to get this in writing.

2)Enter the Charitable Challenge on Razoo by logging in to your account, going to your fundraising page and clicking the “Matching Grant” tab on the admin tool bar.

3)Fill in the grantor’s name and email as well as dates they’ll match donations.

4)Update your Razoopage to include the Charitable Challenge in your “story”.

5)Email your supporters to let them know about the matching grant opportunity.

6)Once the Charitable Challenge has been fulfilled, the grantor will receive an email with how much they owe. See previous section on options for payment or contact the Kearney Area Community Foundation.

Additional Notes:

1)Once your Charitable Challenge has been entered on Razoo, the grant information will be displayed on your page until the grant amount has been reached or the timeframe has expired.

2)Only one Charitable Challenge can be active on Razoo at one time. If you have multiple matches, you will need to close out the existing matching grant and open a new one. If you secure multiple matches, please contact to learn how to manage them.
