Task:

As part of this unit you will observe the dissection of a chicken. During this process you are to complete the attached retrieval chart and the other graphic organizers that are provided.

Dimensions of Learning:

In this assignment you will be exposed to the following areas of the Dimensions of Learning process.

Dimension II :You will obtain specific knowledge (Declarative Knowledge) regarding the physiology of the digestive system of a domestic chicken.

(1)  You should be able to name each of the organs of the digestive system and their role within that system.

Dimension III : The second outcome of this assignment is that you will be able to Extend and Refine this Knowledge by performing the following specific tasks within the assignment procedures.

Your report should contain:

(1)  Comparisons: Your report should contain comparisons between the the state of food in each organ of the digestive system. It should also include comparisons of the different types of digestion

(a)  Physical Digestion

(b)  Microbial Digestion

(c)  Chemical Digestion

(2)  . Comparing other animals digestive systems (humans ) to a birds may help you develop your ideas.

(3)  Reasonings : As part of your explanation you will need to , provide reasons for your conclusions based on information that you have gained from your teacher , from your research in class and at home and from your observations of the dissection practical.

(4)  Conclusions (constructing reasoning): Your explanations and statements must be supported by knowledge you have gained while studying this topic. Every statement must be supported by constructive reason.

When you have the retrieval chart complete , your task is to prepare a REPORT of approximately 500 words (two A4 pages which:
