Mini World Cup 2017

In Term 4 2017 Bay Of Plenty Cricket will again be running the successful Cricket Mini World Cup. Schools from across the Western Bay will come together to test their cricketing skills against one another for the right to lift the Mini World Cup. With lots of action, giveaways and fun it is a festival day not to be missed! This is a one-day tournament and once final entries are in we will notify schedule of play. Spaces will fill quickly and entries will be accepted on a first in basis. Please complete and return the registration form ASAP to avoid disappointment.

·  Year 5 and Year 6 students only

·  8 a-side matches (sides are able to bring a squad of 10 players on the day)

·  9am Managers meeting

·  9.15am Games start - Finish approx. 2.30pm

TOURNAMENT RULES

·  Teams consist of 8 players per side

·  Matches scheduled for 16 x 4 ball overs for each innings

·  Bowled from one end of the wicket - batsman to change ends

·  All players bowl during an innings - maximum 2 overs per bowler

·  Restricted run-up (this will be marked out)

·  There are NO boundaries (ALL runs must be run)

·  Wides and No Balls count for two runs, plus whatever runs are scored from that delivery, these balls are only rebowled in the final over of each innings when 4 legal balls need to be bowled

·  Batsmen bat in pairs, each pair gets 4 overs before swapping with the next pair

·  Each wicket is 4 runs to the bowling team

·  Batsmen cannot be bowled by a ‘throw’. Every other method of dismissal still counts e.g. caught, run out etc...

·  Fielding players are to rotate clockwise at the end of each over

·  No Underarm bowling

·  Upon a call of wide/no ball, the ball shall remain live (wides may be run to add to the score)

·  No wicket keeping gloves are to be used

·  At the instant of delivery, there may not be more than 4 fielders on the leg side

·  There are no LBW rules

·  All players must play in accordance with the spirit of the game e.g. fair-play

Sportsmanship Award

4 points are available in each game for sportsmanship and fair-play. The umpire will allocate points to each team based on their on-field behaviour

A prize will be awarded to the team with the most sportsmanship points at the end of the day

Best Dressed Award

A prize will be awarded to the best dressed team. Teams are encouraged to get into the spirit of the Mini World Cup and dress according to the country they are representing. BOP Cricket will allocate each team with a country
