GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

To contribute to the overall mission of the FacilitiesDepartment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1.Performing a variety of skilled electrical tasks involved in troubleshooting, identifying and resolving malfunctions.

2.Installing, maintaining, replacing, and repairing defective or work electrical parts in motors, generators, pumps, telemetry equipment, breaker panels, controllers, switches and other facilities and equipment.

3.Installing, maintaining and repair of electrical systems including indoor and outdoor lighting for parking lots, buildings and athletic fields.

4.Inspecting newly installed electrical equipment and lighting to ensure safe and satisfactory operation.

5.Maintaining and servicing electrical doors and control pads and minor repairs to elevator equipment.

6.Dig trenches to install conduit in accordance with applicable regulations.

7.Test, locate and repair damaged electrical circuitry.

8.Request, order and store repair parts and equipment.

9.Read plans and specifications, revise and design electrical systems as directed.

10.Coordinate scheduling of repairs.

11.Correctly annotate work requests with time expended on any task and parts required to resolve any failures.

12.Maintain time sheets.

13.Establish and maintain a working relationship with other maintenance personnel, supervisors, staffs and faculties of schools and administrative personnel.

14.Coordinate both maintenance and non-maintenance type activities with school’s staffs.

15.Work independently with little or no supervision or as situations may dictate work as a team member to resolve difficult problems.

16.Other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager or AD(s) of Facilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORMESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Physical Requirement: Ability to lift 60 lbs, also work in various weather conditions. Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment and machinery including trucks, wreckers, tire changing machines, hydraulic lifts, buses, etc. Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of up to 60 pounds. Physical demands are for Medium to Heavy Work.

Interpersonal Communication: Ability of speaking and/or signaling people to convey or exchange information. Includes giving instructions to subordinates. Includes receiving instructions, assignments and/or directions from superiors.

Language Ability: Ability to read a variety of work orders, service records, building or machinery diagrams, technical books, etc. Requires the ability to prepare work orders, time cards, and maintenance reports, using prescribed formats.

Intelligence: Ability to apply principles or rational systems as applied to their specific trade to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists, to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled form. Ability to think logically in diagnosing and repairing equipment covered by their specific trade.

Verbal Aptitude:Ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to use and interpret terminology and language used in their specific trade.

Numerical Aptitude: Ability to utilize mathematical formulas, to add and subtract totals, multiply and divide, and to determine percentages and decimals.

Motor Coordination: Ability to coordinate hands and eyes rapidly and accurately in using mechanical equipment and machinery and to operate motor vehicles.

Interpersonal Temperament: Ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted with persons acting under stress.

Physical Communication: Ability to talk and hear (Talking: expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words. Hearing: perceiving nature of sounds by ear). Must be able to communicate via a telephone.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

1.High School Diploma or equivalent

2.Formal electrical training in a school environment or on the job training under the supervision of a licensed electrician.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES

Knowledge of methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the

electrical trade.

Knowledge of proper care of electrical tools and equipment.

Knowledge of pertinent regulations and codes applicable to installing and

maintaining electrical.

Knowledge of components and parts used in modern street lighting,

water pumping, heating, air conditioning and ventilation systems.

Ability to perform skilled and technical work involved in the maintenance

and repair of awide variety of electrical activities.

Ability to identify and correct electrical problems to include reading and

working from diagrams, blueprints, plans and specifications.

Knowledge of safe work practices.

Ability to relate, cooperate and coordinate with principals, teachers, staff,

other supervisors and directors to accomplish the overall mission of the

Facilities Department.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Ability to reason, make judgments, and maintain effective working

relationships with others.

Ability to utilize positive human relation skills with staff.

Ability to resolve problem situations with sound judgment.

Ability to maintain confidentiality in matters relating to the school

system.

Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative in completing

work assignments.
