Job content
Overall purpose :
Will cover subject matters relating to his/her specialisation, with a view to contribute to awareness raising on the European Union in Myanmar, including through the dissemination of the information, explanation of EU policies and elaboration of a public diplomacy action plan.
Functions and Duties :
•Formulating communication and public diplomacy strategies and carrying out press and information activities in Myanmar.
•Drafting and distribution of press releases.
•Helping to organise and take part in press trips.
•Building and maintaining effective press, media and other contacts.
•Writing special publications, op-eds, brochures and other public relations materials; writing speeches for special occasions and promoting the image of the EU in Myanmar.
•Manage the production of a regular EU Newsletter for Myanmar – editorial input, researching and writing the majority of articles, overseeing distribution, editing layouts and all other aspects of production.
•Compile daily local press review, daily monitoring of English language press, both hard copy and on Internet, writing and distribution.
•Website management (contents, maintenance contractetc).
•Managing P&I budget, under the supervision of the Head of Political, Press & information Section and overall authority of the Head of Delegation.
•Overseeing and improving visibility of EU-funded projects.
•General duties: responding to requests from the public, responding to press enquiries, preparing briefing dossiers, organising press coverage for seminars.
•Organise public events, seminars, conferences to boost the EU's visibility.
•Organise the annual EU Film festival in Yangon, in close collaboration with EU Member States.
•Prepare and, where required, chair bi-annual meetings of EU Cultural Counsellors.
•Maintain close and effective networks with both local and international media outlets based in Myanmar.
•Monitor, analyse and report on macro-economic, business and trade-related developments in Myanmar.
•Contribute to other duties of the PPI Section, including reporting and analysis of political, economic and trade-related matters as required. /

JOB REQUIREMENTS______

Education and training
He/she must hold a University degree that is relevant for the function he/she is asked to perform. A post-graduate degree in Political Sciences, Economics and/or Communications would be a useful asset.
Experience
He/she must have at least 5 years of working experience in relevant areas (public relations, journalism, public diplomacy, international relations, communication/outreach). Knowledge of the European Union institutions, its rules and functioning are valuable assets. Working experience in or with Southeast Asia would be an asset.
