Release notes

These release notes are for IBM System Storage with ProtecTIER Software.

Release date 1 August 2013.

Introduction

This document is a reference for installation and contains other useful information about the IBM System Storage TS7650G, TS7610 and TS7620 with ProtecTIER V3.3.3.

Prerequisites

Prerequisites include the following:

·  ProtecTIER Manager V3.3.3 must be installed.

·  The full package code must already be installed on the system. The installation of this patch on a Linux OS system without the full package code already installed will fail.

This method updated the memory_requirement.xml file in order to
reduce the memory consumed by VTL tapes, according to the
following logic:
‐ The new limits fall between 128 and 256 on a 32-byte boundary (according to the current library configuration).
‐ The new value must be equal to or greater than the current number of CONFIGURED tapes.
‐ If the calculated new limit is greater than the current limit, no change is performed.
The backup configuration file with the current configuration is also generated.

Upgrading the ProtecTIER software

Important: For all upgrades or updates, follow instructions exactly as written, including when to stop and start vtfd and ptcluster services for each node.
