Parent-Teacher-Student Compact

Our mission is to create a caring, calm, consistent community for students and their families to increase student motivation and maximize their academic achievement in preparation for the future.

The School-Parent Compact outlines how parents, the school staff, and students will share the responsibility for improving student academic achievement. The purpose of this compact is to develop a partnership connecting home and school learning.

As a parent/caregiver, ______I will:

·  See that my child attends school regularly, dresses in compliance with the dress code, and is on time with necessary supplies

·  Monitor my child’s homework

·  Read and sign the daily/weekly behavior sheet

·  Check with my child for information sent home, promptly read and sign

·  Attend school functions and parent-teacher conferences

·  Encourage the positive use of leisure time

·  Provide a quiet place for my child to complete homework assignments, study, and read

·  Communicate with the teacher frequently to find out how my child is doing in school

·  Be supportive of the teachers and staff to create a positive school relationship

As a teacher, ______I will:

·  Provide high quality curriculum, instruction, and access to technology to enable students to meet the Maury County Public School’s Keys to College Career Readiness expectations and Tennessee’s Academic Standards

·  Determine each student’s educational needs and adjust instruction to accommodate those needs

·  Have high expectations for myself, students, and other staff members

·  Have a yearly meeting to review the School-Parent Compact and school level Parent Involvement Plan

·  Hold parent-teacher conferences four times a year and more often if needed

·  Maintain open lines of communication with students and parents

·  Provide frequent progress reports to parents

·  Provide opportunities for parents to volunteer at school and observe in their child’s classroom

·  Show respect and caring for all students and families to provide a safe environment

As a student, ______I will:

·  Be responsible to come to school prepared with my homework, supplies, signed behavior sheet, and dressed appropriately, according to school guidelines

·  Show respect for myself, my school, and other people

·  Work to resolve conflicts in positive, nonviolent ways

·  Work hard to do my best in class

·  Will follow proper conduct, following the rules set by the MCPS district, school, and classroom teacher when using electronic devices
