Grade: 2 / Unit Title: InventionsLesson Overview
This is the third day of a 3-day performance assessment based on the book Iggy Peck, Architect by Andrea Beaty. Activities during Week 3 of this unit were purposefully written to align with activities in the performance assessment in order to expose students to similar writing experiences, etc.

The lesson plans were designed for heterogeneous classes. When teachers implement these plans, they should consider the skills and special needs of their students and make adjustments accordingly.

**Prepare for small group/guided reading by selecting appropriate leveled text and making connections to “Inventions” and other topics related to this theme.
It would be beneficial to prepare for this lesson by:
· reviewing the performance assessment (both student copy and teacher copy) to think about student ability to complete specific sections of assessment
· reading the book Iggy Peck, Architect by Andrea Beaty ahead of time to determine whether students would be able to read the text on their own or if a teacher read-aloud is the better option in relation to student ability
