The trip is scheduled to begin on ______, 2009, at which time you will depart from San DiegoAirport. You will return from the destination city on ______in the late afternoon or early evening.

ASSIGNMENT OVERVIEW

For this trip, you will use Internet resources to make an airline reservation, hotel reservation, car rental arrangements, and find public transportation information. You’ll also need to print turn-by-turn instructions from the destination airport to the hotel. The last task is to locate attractions, places to eat, and obtain a weather forecast. Detailed requirements are listed within this packet. Get price quotes separately, use differentsearch engines, and do not use packages.

  1. RESTAURANT INFORMATION: search the Internet to locate three or more restaurants you could take clients or friends to lunch or dinner. Print the Internet pages containing information about your restaurant selections. This printout should have at least the name, address, and phone number. Try to get a general cost. Use a different search engine than prior assignments to receive full credit.
  1. LOCAL ATTRACTION INFORMATION: search the Internet to locate at least 3 attractions and events in your destination city. Look especially for events that will occur while you are there. If none, locate special attractions in the city. Print any relevant pages. This printout should have at least the name, address, and phone number of the various attractions. Use a different search engine than prior assignments to receive full credit.
  1. SPECIFIC AIRLINE RESERVATION INFORMATION: select an airline that provides the most direct route to your destination city. To receive the best airline rates, you will need to obtain airline fares at least three weeks in advance of your departure date. Plan to travel in coach or business class; look for the most reasonably priced tickets available considering the time of day and the number of stops. You will need to record the proposed flight numbers, the flight schedules, the cost of the airline tickets, the Internet address from which you obtained your information, and what the last date(s) of your Internet site visitation. , , etc. Print out your price quote and/or relevant information
  1. SPECIFIC HOTEL RESERVATION INFORMATION: book hotel reservations for your stay in the destination city. ***Use a different search engine than you used for the airline price quote***. Plan to stay in a hotel in the downtown area. Rates will vary according to your destination city, but strive (if possible) to keep your per-night stay below $150. In the tables within this packet, record the name of the hotel, the address, phone number, dates of stay, and room rate. Try if you have trouble getting the address and phone. Print out price quote and/or relevant information
  1. RENTAL CAR AND PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION: Use a different search engine from the airline and hotel assignments to get a rental price quote. This is required along with obtaining at least one type of public transportation (taxi, bus, subway, trolley etc.). A good search engine such as is the easiest way to find this type of information for your city. Note the Internet address from which you obtained this information. Page 5 gives has more specifics on what you should find. Record all this information in the tables within page 5. Print out your price quote and/or relevant information
  1. MAP ASSIGNMENT INFORMATION: visit an Internet site that can produce maps such as and click “maps”. Make sure you click route or driving directions and it’s easiest if you use the airport code for the start of the route. Plan your driving directions from the destination airport to your hotel. You might be able to enter a 3 letter airport code in place of the airport’s address. Print at least turn-by-turn instructions and a map of the area. Printing a map is not good enough!!! Using a map supplied by the hotel is not an option…you must prove you can get driving directions. If you are going out of the country talk with me if you can’t find driving directions.
  1. WEATHER INFORMATION: before you turn in the project, access yahoo’s weather link or equivalent site and print a 4-7 day forecast for your destination city even though it won’t be for the week you are traveling on. It’s ok if the printer cuts off the right side of the page. Try the weather link on

WHEN YOU ARE DONE:

**look at your assignment sheet and put the pages in order. Make sure you’ve filled out the various tables. Staple these 2 pages to your print-outs and turn in.
