Tuesday, 14th February 2017 – Activity Day for Children/Young People (8-18 years), plus Siblings - 10am-3pm, Contribution: £15 at Alderman Knight School, Tewkesbury

This activity day is a drop-off session open to young people with an autism spectrum and siblings (aged 8-18 years). In the morning we will travel by minibus to Matson Ski Centre for ski tubing and then return to school for lunch and games and other activities during the afternoon.

Monday, 6th March 2017 – ‘Making Sense of Sensory Differences in Autistic People’

Evening Talk (7-9pm) by Prof. Liz Pellicano at Alderman Knight School, Tewkesbury

Contribution:Free – Parent/Carer/Family Member/Individual with ASC, £5– Professional

Liz will provide an overview of what we know about sensory differences in autistic people, including why they might occur and what we might do about them.

Monday, 10th April 2017 – Activity Day for Children/Young People (8-18 years), plus Siblings - 10am-3pm, Contribution: £15 at Alderman Knight School, Tewkesbury

This activity day is a drop-off session open to young people with an autism spectrum and siblings (aged 8-18 years). In the morning we will travel by minibus to Eastnor Pottery, Ledbury for pottery workshop. We aim to return to Alderman Knight School by 2.30pm for a 3pm pick up.

Venue: Alderman Knight School, Tewkesbury Group Size: 18 Contribution: £15 per day

Time: 10am-3pm (Mon/Weds/Thurs) 9.45am-3.00pm (Tues) & 10am-2pm (Fri)

This activity week is a drop-off session and open to young people with an autism spectrum, aged 8-17 years, plus their siblings. This week includes a variety of outings/activities, i.e. archery, paddle boarding/kayaking, practical equestrian day, swimming, trampolining, willow making/ pottery, multi-sports, ICT, etc.

Thursday, 17th August 2017 (6.00-8.00pm) - FREE Family Evening at Cattle Country Adventure Park, Berkeley GL13 9EW.

This is an evening for the whole family – the park offers indoor and outdoor play equipment, including outdoor splash pool and bouncy pillow. As in previous visits we have booked the park exclusively for our use.

Thursday, 12th October 2017 – 9th Branch Annual General Meeting followed by Autism Talk by Geoff Evans – Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) – Understanding and Supporting the Learning of Children/Young People with PDA (7-9pm) at Alderman Knight School, Tewkesbury. Cost: FREE

7.00pm – 9th AGM / 7.10pm (Approx.) – Autism Talk

Over relatively recent years, the unique needs and ways ofsupporting children/young people with PDA has been recognised. Whilst there is still debate about whether they require a separate diagnosis to autism,Geoff argues that those supporting them need to understand their unique needs and ways of experiencing the world and the learning experience. Following a discussion of their needs, Geoff will outline practical approaches and ways of supporting their behaviour and learning. He will cover strategies that can be used in the classroom and in more unstructured times.

FREE Information Session by Geoff Evans – Pathological Demand Avoidance – Supporting Children/Young People with PDA in the Home and Community (9.30am-12pm) at Alderman Knight School

Geoff will begin this workshop with a discussion and a practical exercise that helps participants identify the differing needs of those with PDA. This will be followed by a look at how PDA can impact upon the child/young person in the home and community. The final part of the workshop will outline practical strategies to support the child/young person with PDA.

Tuesday, 24th October 2017 - Horseriding at Tumpy Green Equestrian Centre, Cam, Dursley

Session Times: 10-11am and 11am-12pm Cost: £15 per person

We have booked two sessions at Tumpy Green Equestrian Centre, Cam, Dursley. Each session lasts for 60 minutes, and this activity is open to all children/young people on the autism spectrum, plus their siblings (4 years+).
