WHAT IS THE FOUNDATION?

It is a non-profit organization that helps in the efforts of various organizations in the communities of Eagle Grove, Thor, Vincent and Woolstock to study the unmet needs and provide funding to meet those needs which cannot be funded by taxes, bond issues or assessments. Funding will be no more than matching funds, not to exceed more than 50% of a project.

WHAT IS THE SOURCE OF FUNDS?

The foundation acts as a recipient of gifts by individuals and businesses who wish to promote a progressive community for the present and future.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Gifts to the foundation can be processed in any of the following ways:

-Place gifts in escrow for purposes to be designated later.

-Use major gifts in accordance with specific wishes of the donor.

-Designate a project toward which individuals and businesses can pool their contributions.

-Receive non-designated gifts and contributions to use in any manner the foundation determines.

WHO IS ON THE BOARD?

Area community leaders who are vitally interested in all facets of area development and who serve without compensation.

ARE GIFTS TO THE FOUNDATION EXEMPT FROM FEDERAL OR STATE INHERITANCE TAXES?

Yes, a living gift can be used as an itemized deduction on your income taxes.

IS THE INCOME FROM TRUST FUNDS HELD BY THE FOUNDATION TAXABLE?

No, the foundation is classified as a charitable organization and its income is exempt from income taxes.

Application Procedures

TIMELINE FOR APPLICATION:

Application proposals will be accepted on or before February 15 and on or before August 15 of each calendar year. NOTE: A representative of the organization will be required to appear before the foundation board to present and defend the application proposal.

APPLICATION PROCESS:

Application approvals will be made by the foundation board on or before April 15 for applications received by February 15 and on or before October 15 for applications received by August 15. NOTE:The foundation is unable to grant every application proposal. Application proposals not aligned with our focus are unlikely to receive approval. Decisions by the foundation board regarding application proposals are final. Applicants will be notified in writing of the board’s decision.
