Documentary Examines Demise of the Old West Outlaw

Death of the Old West examines vigilante justice in a small Oklahoma town in 1909.

A new documentary premiering (DATE) on (STATION) examines a young frontier community brought to violence in battling the outlaw element of the Old West.

DEATH OF THE OLD WEST explores the circumstances and aftermath surrounding the decision of an angry mob to kidnap and hang four suspected outlaws in Ada, Oklahoma on April 19, 1909.

As the sun set on frontier life, this vigilante act ripped the community apart, simultaneously bringing closure to a bloody feud and shame to citizens struggling to distance themselves from backwater violence.

The documentary features interviews with experts and compelling photo and video footage. Filmmakers also try to solve the mystery of who participated in the mob – no one was ever identified or prosecuted.

The mob responsible achieves its desired results by effectively driving the outlaw element out of town, but in the process perpetrates a terrible miscarriage of justice that divides the people of Ada, Oklahoma to this day.
