1.  BID marketing update
This included:

-  Chewing gum campaign

-  Advertising other events in Broadmead, including in The Galleries and Cabot Circus

-  Cheers Drive! Campaign (

-  New Summer Campaign 2015

-  Social media opportunities / monthly Facebook competitions

-  Bristol Post Business Awards on 25th June:

o  Broadmead BID is sponsoring ‘Retailer of the Year’ award

o  Broadmead BID Christmas Marketing Campaign 2014 has been shortlisted for ‘Marketing of the Year’ award

o  Broadmead BID double-page coverage in Bristol Post’s Business Supplement on 17th June

-  The Gateway Feature

-  Review of free WorldHost customer service training course (funded by the BID)

o  The sessions were delivered as part of the WorldHost programme; Bristol is hoping to put 3,000 people through this course by the end of 2015 in order to achieve WorldHost Destination status.

-  Christmas advertising (has already started for coach groups)

-  Wayfinding:

o  The Bristol Shopping Quarter A3 tear-off maps have now been updated and distributed to a number of hotels in Bristol city centre as well as Cabot Circus info point and the Tourist Information Centre on Harbourside.

-  Other Bristol events (noted that St Paul’s carnival has now been cancelled)

2.  The Galleries update

-  Shaun – running a competition within the centre (all details tbc.). The BID & Galleries joint-funded ‘Shaun of the day’ will take place on 15th August.

-  Summer – looking to link in with Bristol Shopping Quarter on summer activity. Anna from marketing will be in touch with Jo to work out complementary activity in the near future.

-  Downend Balloons are constructing a 15ft model of a hot-air balloon out of balloons. This will be displayed in The Galleries on the 3rd and 4th August (tbc)

-  Advertising – half page in both programmes for Balloon Fiesta and Harbour festival.

-  Baby and Toddler event – on-going. Last day of photography is 27th June; back in the following week for distribution of photos.

-  Halloween – working up plans for an event.

-  Late night trading - 7pm closing is planned from 6th July, Monday - Saturday.

3.  Shaun in The City
After a very successful event in London, Shaun in the City will take place in Bristol from 6th July – 31st August. There will be 4 sculptures in Bristol Shopping Quarter: in front of M&S (Broadmead side), The Podium, The Galleries and Cabot Circus. This event is anticipated to be even more popular than the Gromit trail of 2013.

4.  Environmental enhancements

-  New vinyls have now been installed on the empty unit opposite Marks & Spencer, promoting the Cheers Drive campaign.

-  Hanging baskets have once again been provided by The BID.

5.  Social media

We are very pleased to announce the appointment of Viv Kennedy who has now officially joined the Broadmead BID team on a part-time basis (3 days / week). Please email Viv details of any events or special offers you may have, so that we can promote them on our Bristol Shopping Quarter website www.bristolshoppingquarter.co.uk and via Facebook & Twitter. A new Instagram ‘BristolShopping’ page has also now been set-up.

6.  Cleansing update

The cleansing team is working hard to keep on top of the increasing amount of graffiti in Broadmead.If you are aware of any cleansing issues, please contact the BID team.

7.  AOB

-  Lynn-Marie Power invited all the retailers to the next Royal British Legion Open Day event on 1st July

-  She also gave the group the contact details to book their meeting room (tel. number: 03330 11 44 00 / email: )

-  Tracey mentioned the increasing problem of pedlars and noisy buskers in Broadmead.

-  Sian asked Jo to find out if nominations to the Cheers Drive campaign could be made by twitter (unfortunately nominations can only be made on-line or by telephone)
