Thanks to support from the Department for Education and Government Equalities Office, Show Racism the Red Card (SRtRC) is about to embark on an exciting programme of work to educate against Homophobic, Biphobic and Transphobic bullying.

SRtRC uses the high profile of professional footballers to educate young people about the dangers of racism and prejudice in society. The campaign does this through the production of educational resources, including films, education packs, magazines and posters; in addition to direct work in schools and educational events at football clubs.

In 2014, almost nine in ten secondary school teachers (86 percent) and almost half (45 percent) of primary school teachers surveyed for Stonewall’s YouGov poll said pupils in their school, regardless of sexual orientation, have experienced homophobic bullying.

The Tackling HBT Bullying project will provide a range of opportunities for teachers and young people to explore the issue of HBT bullying.

All activities are fully funded and will be offered free of charge to participants.

From September 2015 activities will include:

·  Twenty high profile SRtRC educational events at football clubs. Participants will take part in workshops that examine HBT bullying and language.

·  Four national Teacher Training events to build school capacity to challenge HBT bullying and language.

·  A film competition for young people to produce work about HBT bullying.
