Job Title : Independent Living & Volunteer Coordinator

POSITION DESCRIPTION

INDEPENDENT LIVING AND VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR

GENERAL DUTIES:

CONSUMER SERVICES:

1.Provides Independent Living Skills Training (ILST) to consumers.

2.Conducts self-help group meeting per quarter.

3.Provides information and assistance according to written goals and objectives submitted by the consumer.

CONSUMER RECORDS

4.Written documentation, and forms are complete, and accurate.

5.Submits all CIL forms, i.e. DATA, CSR, Voters Registration, etc., and documentation by deadline.

SUPERVISION

6.The incumbent works independently with minimal supervision..

7.Comply with and refer to the Personnel Policy Manual, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Staff Employee Handbook for guidance.

8.Conducts staff meetings in absence of the Executive Director, as assigned

9.Performs other duties deemed necessary by Management.

COMMUNITY

10.Initiates outreach efforts to minority/ethnic populations, by attending minority/ethnic cultural events and networking with indigenous minority community leaders to facilitate awareness of the Independent Living Program and resources.

11.Work with businesses, local government, educational, not-profit, and corporate interests to ensure persons with disabilities are afforded the same access to public facilities ADA), programs, services, employment, communications, and benefits, as persons who are not disabled.

12. Accept public speaking engagements and addresses disability issues for business groups, hospitals and other social service agencies.

TRAINING

13.Attend workshops, seminars, meetings and public speaking training when offered.

VOLUNTEER PROGRAM

14.Organizes the Volunteer Program

15.Coordinates the Volunteer Program

16.Coordinates the Volunteer Awards Event

QUALIFICATIONS OF THE POSITION:

1.Must have a BA or at least 3 yrs. experience assisting people with disabilities.

2.Must have excellent writing skills.

3.Must have experience giving presentation.

4.Must have experience using word processing programs and accessing the Internet.

5.Priority consideration will be given to people with disabilities.

6.Priority consideration will be given for volunteer hours at the CIL.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION:

1. Sitting/Standing for long periods of time (using the computer and driving).

2. Driving occasionally for long periods of time

3. Standing/Sitting for 50 minutes while giving presentations.

4. Writing letters and documenting files.

5. Lifting: laptop computer 8 lbs.,

Twisting:at waist when sitting and driving – very limited twisting

Bending:getting in car – very limited bending
