Practicum Welcome Email

On-site Supervisor,

I hope this email finds you well! I wanted to begin by thanking you for serving as a practicum site supervisor for one of our school counseling practicum students. Our practicum student must serve a minimum of 150 hours, including 40 hours of direct service to clients, at your site this semester. We are grateful for your assistance in preparing our students to be among the finest counselors.

We have requested that the practicum candidate meet with you during the first week of placement to review critical forms and secure signatures. It is not your responsibility to return these forms; it is the responsibility of the practicum student. Please read the Information and Overview form, which will be among the documents your practicum student will share. The Information and Overview form serves as a formal agreement confirming your training, credentials, and experience. You will find forms required for practicum, an orientation to our school counseling program, and our School Counseling Program Manual here: You can also find out additional information regarding our program, professional activities, conferences, ethical standards, professional organizations, accreditation, and credentials on the School Counseling Bulletin Board here: You must also complete the Counselor Supervision Training Verification form here ( to verify supervision training. If you do not have formal counselor supervision training, you need to go to ( and participate in the Counselor Supervision Training Module before completing the verification form.

You will need to evaluate the practicum candidate during the placement using the “Practicum Evaluation of Candidate Performance” form. It is critical that you and your practicum student develop a plan for evaluation and for meeting the 150-hour minimum clinical placement experience. You will bereceiving an email from ourLiveText systemcoordinator over the next few weeks that will include a username and passwordas well as a video and other helpful links for using the evaluation tool. You will also find information regarding LiveText and the Field Experience Management (FEM) tool here: Your practicum student will use FEM to log completed hours each week, while you will be able to log into FEM to verify hours and to complete necessary practicum evaluations. Evaluations include the “Practicum Evaluation of Candidate Performance” (completed in FEM in LiveText to provide an overall assessment of the candidate’s performance throughout placement) “EDCE 698/699 Clinical Skills Taped Session OSS” (completed in FEM in LiveText to provide an assessment of the candidate’s counseling skills in the taped session that was completed during placement).

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have additional questions. Also, please contact me immediately should you have any concerns about the performance of our practicum student so that a professional development plan can be created and implemented. Our good communication is imperative, particularly when issues that could become problematic arise. In addition to contacting me via this email address, my signature block contains my Liberty email, and my office number at Liberty. I will be in touch in coming weeks to schedule a time to communicate with our practicum student and you, and to establish a plan for regular communications throughout the semester.

Again, thank you for serving as a site supervisor. I look forward to our future communications.

Sincerely,

Practicum Email Week #2
