New Bern’s 2013 Christmas Parade

Parade Guidelines

PLEASE READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION CAREFULLY!

  1. OVERALL RULES:
  1. There shall be an adult or responsible person for each float or entry, and this person should remain with the entry during the entire parade.
  2. The parade Chairperson will be the final authority if unusual questions arise.
  3. There will be ONLY ONE Santa Clause in the parade and he is on the last Float. He is the official Santa arranged by Parade officials.
  4. All vehicles should be driven by NC licensed drivers.
  5. All Units should depict the Christmas theme and all riders should be festively attired.
  6. The parade chairperson and the Craven County Jaycees reserve the right for final approval of all entries.
  7. The Craven County Jaycees will not be responsible for any lost items during the parade.
  8. The parade will be held RAIN OR SHINE.
  1. SAFETY GUIDELINES:
  1. To protect the safety of Parade Spectators, the throwing of Candy and Gifts will be prohibited. If you wish to distribute candy or other materials to Parade Spectators, a person or persons must walk next to your entry and hand the items to the crowd.
  2. Any float of entry with children under the age of 16 must have an adult supervisor present at all times.
  3. It is advised by the Craven County Jaycees that all young children be seated during the parade and anytime that the entry is moving.
  4. Please instruct the riders of your float to find a safe, stable position for the ride and to remain in that position for the duration of the parade. They should not walk around, swing from or hang off of the floats.
  1. CHECK-IN INFORMATION:
  1. Check-in (Line-up) will begin at 1:30pm along Trent Blvd with the 1st Entry at Fort Totten Park. Line-up will be along both sides of Trent Road ending at the corner of 7th and Trent Rd.
  2. Please enter the line-up from Trent Blvd and 7th Street. You will not be allowed to enter from the Fort Totten end. There is not enough room to turn around once in the line-up area. A uniformed officer and a Craven County Jaycee will be there to give you further directions.
  3. Bands will assemble at the City of New Bern parking lot on the corner of Trent Rd & 1st St.
  4. Parking: Only vehicles in the parade are allowed on Trent Road in the line-up area. Drop off should be at Fort Totten Park or along Rhem Ave.
