The Michigan Community Foundations Youth Project (MCFYP) Committee recognizes that YACs across the state give a great amount of time and energy to better their communities. The MCFYP committee has created “YAC of the Year” awards for the categories listed below in order to honor the hard work and dedication that committees of youth grantmakers demonstrate each year. The winners of these awards will be recognized at the annual Youth Summer Leadership Conference, on our website, as well as in CMF member communications. All nominations must pertain to projects completed by the time of the summer conference (June 19-21, 2015).

YAC of the Year Award Categories

·  Community Service Project of the Year: This award will be given to the YAC that demonstrates participation in/creation of the most creative, unique, outstanding and/or impactful community service project in their respective community.

·  Fundraiser of the Year: This award will be given to the YAC that demonstrates creation and implementation of the most creative, unique, outstanding and/or impactful fundraiser, fundraising event, or fund development activity during the year.

·  Grant of the Year: This award will be given to the YAC that demonstrates the most creative, unique, outstanding, and/or impactful grant awarded during the year.

·  Media Usage of the Year: This award will be given to the YAC that demonstrates the most creative, unique, outstanding and/or impactful usage of media/social media in their work. All submissions for this award must accompany an electronic form of the piece of media/social media.

*Please note that “impact” can be measured in various ways. The MCFYP committee recognizes that impact does not only mean the quantity of people affected, but also includes the diversity in groups of people involved, the level of youth empowerment and community engagement, and the focus on the betterment of the lives of young people within communities.

Nomination Process & Deadline

A YAC must collectively nominate itself for an award—all nominations must be written by YACs/YAC members and not advisors. **NEW FOR 2015** Each YAC may submit one nomination for only one category. Award recipients in 2014 will not be eligible for the same category award in 2015. The MCFYP committee will recognize award recipients at the 2015 Youth Summer Leadership Conference, on June 19-21 at Central Michigan University. Please complete and submit the attached form by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 15, 2015 to the attention of Stephanie Koslowski, Program Assistant (313-566-2444 ext 216).
