Announcing a Change to Requests for Gas Sales Usage History

Public Service Company of Colorado, an Xcel Energy Company

May 18, 2010

To help ensure your requests for gas usage histories are processed as quickly as possible, effective June 1st 2010,Xcel Energy’s BusinessSolutionsCenter will handle all requests for sales gas histories. Colorado privacy laws and corporate compliance rules on customer information can be complex, and the BusinessSolutionsCenter has the expertise and procedures in place to appropriately handle these types of requests.

Beginning June 1, 2010, please send your requests for Gas Sales Usage Histories to the BusinessSolutionsCenter, which is open Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 5:00pm

  • Phone: 1-800-481-4700, or by fax 303-571-6220.

Usage history for existing transportation service will still be managed by Natural Gas Services.

As a refresher, the following instructions will help avoid delays in filling your sales information request.

A standard authorization/release form provided by a 3rd party (such as an Consultant or Supplier) can be used, provided the following information is included and the form is signed by the authorized Customer of Record.

  • Requests for a Company’s natural gas usage history must include
  • Company name (using the name on the Utility Bill will streamline the process)
  • Service Address
  • Contact Phone Number
  • Utility Premise Number and/or Gas Meter
  • “Customer of Record” authorizing the release of history: Name (printed), Signature, Date
  • If authorizing PSCo to send the information to a third party, name of that Company and 1) fax number where the information should be sent 2) contact phone of the authorized 3rd party Company

Who is the “Customer of Record”?

Only the Customer of Record can give Public Service permission to release a Company’s history to a third party. The Customer of Record is an individual listed in the Public Service information system as being employed or otherwise listed as an authorized party on the account.

What happens if the person signing the request isn’t listed as the “Customer of Record”?

That person can call the BusinessSolutionsCenterto speak with a representative, who will update their account information.

Can the customer just call the BusinessSolutionsCenter and ask for the information to be sent to someone?

Yes. Fax requests will be processed, but a phone call is also a valid way for the customer to request the information. Note that the call must be made by the Customer of Record, and not the third party that may be receiving the information.

We hope that this will help provide the information you need more quickly and efficiently. If you have any questions please contact the BusinessSolutionsCenter, your Natural Gas Services representative, or Vivian Ruth at 303-571-7719 to be directed to your Representative.

We appreciate your help in this change of procedures.

Sincerely

Micah Zamora
