and elections. Election vocabulary. Political parties & primaries. Local politics.

Week 2: Review/ HW, vocabulary.Political parties, history of political parties (page 38)
Types of elections. Our elected officials (pg. 23,24,25) Campaining!
Organizing a campaign staff (pg. 61). Election Survey (pg. 64).
Discuss class parties. Make up names/symbols for political parties.
HW: Current event article related to the elections, presidential quote.
Week 3: Review/HW. The process of electing a president. Electoral college/votes.
Discuss class elections. Nominate candidates, give speeches, vote for top two
candidates! Organize campaign staff.
Discuss platform issues: Begin to prepare for campaigns in class.
HW: Article/presidential quote. Candidates and campaign staff work on campaign,
(posters, signs, phone calls, social media) … CAMPAIGN!
Week 4: Review/HW.Discuss campaigns. Finish campaign posters in class. Write speeches.
Candidates deliver speeches for class president (time permitting).
Voting responsibilities. Discuss polls, campaign ads.
HW: Article, presidential quote. Study the presidents.
Week 5: Review/ HW. Vote for president! Vocabulary quiz, name that term
quiz. Discuss current elections! Election survey (page 64). Discuss how to get involved
in a current campaign. Discuss HW assignment.

discuss in class). Prepare acceptance speech. Memorize the presidents!
