SENIOR MONEY ADVISOR

JOB DESCRIPTION

Post: Senior Money Advisor

Responsible to: Management Committee

Hours of work: 35 hours per week –evening & weekend work required

Salary: £25,000

Job purpose and Core function:

The overarching purpose of the role is the provision of compliance activity within DMAC along with provision of management of the Money Advice Team and provision representation to target groups of service users in the West Glasgow Area, and to assist in the development and implementation of the information, advice and representation service operated by the Centre.

Actual function:

The role has a variety of activities and considerations in delivering the service. The tasks will include the following:

·  To monitor and maintain compliance systems and procedures across the Money Advice services

·  To act as a referral point for any queries regarding the Compliance system

·  Undertake supervision of Money Advisors

·  To provide advice and representation on welfare rights and money advice

·  To assist in the production of publications and other resource materials

·  Develop and maintain relevant information systems

·  Reporting to monthly meetings and the Management Committee meeting

·  Attendance at and reporting to Subcontract meetings

·  Attendance at and reporting to the Advisory board meetings

·  To attend Management Team Meetings

·  To provide advice and assistance to clients with financial problems

·  To establish the circumstances which lead to serious debt problems

·  To maximise the client’s income through advice on welfare benefits and other sources of financial assistance

·  To liaise with creditor/s and to negotiate with creditor/s on the clients behalf

·  To offer appropriate assistance to individuals requiring help with financial budgeting

·  To provide representation and advocacy at tribunals and other formal or informal hearings

·  To keep up to date with developments in money advice and changes in relevant legislation

·  To liaise with appropriate local and national debt and money advice agencies in addition to statutory agencies

·  To cover outreach clinics and work at venues across the Glasgow West area, with limited weekend and evening work as required via rota.

·  Any other duties appropriate to the post

Essential Experience and Qualifications:

·  Supervisory Experience

·  Working knowledge of local and national policies in respect of money advice, debt, welfare rights and financial inclusion.

·  Knowledge and understanding of the issues facing people suffering financial difficulties, and in particular the target groups in social exclusion and financial inclusion

·  Knowledge of Welfare Reform

·  Previous experience within a similar role (paid or voluntary)
