Boys (ages 11-17) basketball tournament in Honolulu, Hawai`i.

Sponsored by National Junior Basketball

and the Hawai`i Chapter of National Junior Basketball.

DIVISIONS (AGE): BOYS: 12-Under, 6th Grade

14-Under, 8th Grade

17-Under, 12th Grade

Boys -- Eligibility age cut-off determined as of September 1, 2017. Girls may participate on a boys team, but majority of team must be made of boys. The eligibility age cut-off for the girls is determined as of January 1, 2017. Must be of age on that day.

A player may participate on only one tournament team.

Coaches are responsible for ensuring compliance with eligibility requirements.

TOURNAMENT FORMAT AND AWARDS

Game times and locations to be announced. Each team guaranteed to play 4 games. Games start Friday, July 28, 2017, at 5 p.m., last game will finish on Sunday July 31, 2017, by 4:30 p.m.

Playoff format based upon standings after pool play.

Tournament Schedules will be delivered to Coaches via E-mail on Wednesday July 26, 2017 by 5 p.m..

While supplies last each player will receive a free basketball shorts. Shorts will be given in the order of teams completing their registration packets.


ENTRY DEADLINE, TOURNAMENT FEES

AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Tournament Package: Registration Form; Team Roster; Tournament Fee; and Player Insurance Fees.

Deadlines: July 7, 2017 - deadline for sending in the Registration Form and Tournament Fee.

July 7, 2017 - deadline for sending in the Team Roster Form and the per player insurance fee. Team Roster Forms must be accompanied by birth certificates for all players. Coaches must bring an additional set of birth certificates to all games. Verification of NJB affiliation is required if seeking waiver of insurance fees. Team Roster and insurance fee not received by deadline cannot guarantee spot. Spot will be reserved for teams that have submitted complete packages by June 30, 2016.

Fee: The tournament fee is $325 per team, plus $5.00 per player for player insurance, if player not a member of NJB-affiliated program for the current year.

Forms and fees may be mailed to Matt A. Tsukazaki at 733 Bishop Street, Suite 1770, Honolulu, Hawai`i 96813. All fees should be paid by cashier’s check or money order made out to “NJB Hawai`i”.

NOTE: Register and pay your Tournament Fee early (before July 7, 2017) to reserve a spot. Tournament Package must be completed to guarantee the spot. If Tournament Package is not completed by July 7, 2017, team may lose spot to another team that completes the Tournament Package by the deadline. All fees are non-refundable after July 21, 2017. We require at least 8 teams in each division. Once the slots are filled, additional teams will be only accepted at the discretion of the tournament directors. If there are insufficient teams to support the division, the division may be closed and all payments refunded.

TOURNAMENT RULES

Game Duration: Pool Play Pool Play, Quarterfinals & Semifinal Games:

12-under two 14 minute halves.

14-under & 17-under two 16 minute halves.

Time clock – running time (stops for time outs). Except stop time in last 2 minutes of game. Half-time break – 3 minutes. Overtimes (all stop time): 1st OT – 3 minutes. 2nd OT –sudden death, first basket.

Championship and Consolation Championship Games:

12-under, 14-under & 17-under two 16 minute halves.

Time clock – running time (stops for time outs and free throws). Except stop time in last 3 minutes of game. Half-time – 3 minutes. Overtimes (all stop time): OT – 3 minutes.

Time-Outs: Pool Play, Quarterfinals & Semifinal Games:

2 full (1 minute) time-outs per half. 1 full time-out in overtime. No carry over of time outs from one period to other.

Championship and Consolation Championship Games:

2 full (1 minute) time-outs and (1) 20-second time out per half.

1 full time-out in overtime. No carry over of time outs from one period to other.

Playing Time: No minimum playing time; free substitution.

Fouls: 5 personal fouls per player; 1 and 1 bonus on 7th team foul of half. Double bonus on the 10th team foul of half.

Forfeit: Player ineligibility -- Coaches must have copy of players’ birth certificates at all games. Eligibility issue must be raised before game with the Site Representative. If player is ineligible, player is disqualified from playing in tournament. Team may play but without ineligible player. Eligibility issue waived if player plays in game and issue is raised after the game begins.
