@ Trotwood-MadisonHigh School

All eight Firebird diving entries finished in the top-ten, following preliminary rounds, at the 29th Annual Southwest Ohio Coaches Classic; the nationally renowned competition was held at Trotwood-MadisonHigh School, on January 14. Leading the way for Fairmont were Tim Kendig (4th place-190.15), Jackson Kissel (5th place-151.55), and Josh Schnipke (6th place-142.45). Kendig and Kissel qualified for the Sunday Finals at the University of Cincinnati (where they finished 19th and 20th respectively).

Side-Bar: Kendig’s Saturday score is fourth best on the all-time Fairmont charts.

The Fairmont ladies also posted a strong Saturday performance; led by Bethany Blumenstock (6th place-162.40), Kamryn Hyde (7th place-135.15), Nicole Manzo (8th place-125.50), Jenny Sharpe (9th place-115.35) and Sarah Miller (10th place-114.80).

12-17-11: Mason Comets Invitational

@ MasonCommunity Center

Racked by illness and injury, Fairmont sent Tim Kendig (along with first-year divers Josh Schnipke, Nicole Manzo and Jenny Sharpe) to the MasonCommunity Center, on December 17.The Firebird effort was highlighted by Tim Kendig’s performance of a triple-somersault; a rare selection on the one-meter springboard (last attempted by Centerville’s Christopher Heaton, in 2004). Kendig’s effort (although slightly over-rotated) brought the crowd to its feet; loud applause and the spontaneous chant of “score-it…score-it” echoed throughout the Mason natatorium.

12-10-11: Oakwood Triangular (Oakwood, Springboro, Fairmont)

@ Beavercreek YMCA

There was no team scoring during this informal six and eleven-dive competition.

An unfortunate injury to a Springboro athlete resulted in a twenty-minute intermission during warm-ups.Several (Fairmont) divers experimented with higher degree-of-difficulty selections; the risk-taking paid dividends. Despite un-scored or low-scored selections, several divers posted near or new personal-bests.
