The SBIR/STTR Alerting Service is a free service that provides bi-weekly notification of SBIR and STTR solicitation announcements, news and information, and Internet resources relevant to the SBIR/STTR programs. This service is provided by the Economic Development Office of Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL).

Applications in response to the Department of Energy (DOE) FY 2008 Funding Opportunity Notice are due November 27, 2007, 8:00PM Eastern Time. Applications must be submitted through Grants.gov to be considered for award. Questions relating to the registration process, system requirements, how an application form works, or the submittal process must be directed to Grants.gov at 1-800-518-4726 or .

-- DOC NIST FY2008 Solicitations Released

The Department of Commerce (DOC) National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) program released a pair of FY-2008 SBIR solicitations this week.

The first one, SBIR – Research (NIST-08-SBIR-R) includes subtopics describing areas of research to support NIST projects. The solicitation is available in MS Word format at http://www.fbo.gov/spg/DOC/NIST/AcAsD/SB1341%2D08%2DRQ%2DSBIR/Attachments.html. The closing date is January 25, 2008.

The second solicitation, SBIR – Technology Transfer (NIST-08-SBIR-TT) includes subtopics describing research needed to commercialize technologies already developed by NIST. The solicitation is available in MS Word format at http://www.fbo.gov/spg/DOC/NIST/AcAsD/Reference-Number-NIST-08-SBIRTT/Attachments.html. The closing date is January 23, 2008.

-- ED SBIR Presolicitation Notices Released

On November 7, the Department of Education (ED) posted a pair of presolicitation notices for two SBIR solicitations that will open November 23, 2007, on the Federal Business Opportunities (http://www.fedbizopps.gov/) website.

The first notice is for a standard Phase I solicitation. It can be viewed at http://www.fbo.gov/spg/ED/OCFO/CPO/ED-08-R-0007/SynopsisP.html.

The second notice is for Fast-Track funding. A Fast-Track proposal is a single proposal that contains both Phase I and Phase II activities. This notice can be viewed at http://www.fbo.gov/spg/ED/OCFO/CPO/ED-08-R-0008/SynopsisP.html.
