SUMMARY OF MAIN FUNCTIONS AND PURPOSE OF JOB
The Unit Leader of Diagnostic Radiology at NMCH will be responsible for all aspects of patient care within the Unit of Radiology, and will work to ensure the Unit delivers world class child and family centred care to all NMCH in- and out-patients.
The Unit Leader of Radiology will assist the Clinical Services Support Head of Department to ensure the successful integration of paediatric services into the overall business plan. The Unit Leader must ensure that all policies, programmes and initiatives are consistent and supportive of NMCH’s vision, mission and values.
The Unit Leader must act as a role model through strong relationships and accessibility, and through effective intra- and inter-Unit communication. The Unit Leader must drive an innovative and diverse academic programme (including undergraduate and postgraduate teaching) and work to strengthen the integration of care, education and research within the Unit, the Hospital and beyond. In addition to management and leadership responsibilities, the Unit Leader will be required to deliver world-class child and family centred care to all patients.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • MBBCh, or equivalent,andMMedin Radiology, with experience in paediatric Radiology.
  • Registration as a Radiologist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa.
  • A minimum of 8 years as a specialist after registration in this discipline.
  • Experience as a Team or Unit Leader will be advantageous.
