  2. Replying to the email that was sent with this offer letter.

If we do not receive a reply from you, this offer will expire on November 30th2009.

Tuition & Other Fees

The fees are as follows:

  1. Course fee of US $550.00 per course to be paid in the equivalent local currency. This fee covers the overall online management of the course by the course coordinator, online tutoring, course materials and examinations. Please note that the course fee does not cover any course texts that may be required.
  2. Administrative Fee. This fee includes:

Guild Fee (Annual Fee) - US$20.00

Identification Card (1st Time) - US$5.00

  1. Orientation fee of US $60.00.There is an orientation programme that all registered students must undertake.
  2. Late Registration Fee of US$35.00, applicable for registrations during the period January 24- February 12, 2009.

Student Identification Card

ALL new students are provided with a Student Identification Card. Please complete the enclosed Identification Card form and submit it with your reply form to your respective site. If you are a past student of the University of the West Indies, your previous identification/student number will be used on your card.

Registration
You are expected to register online during the period January 11-23, 2009.Kindly check the web site for further details on the registration dates. You will print the registration slip and use it to pay the registration and other fees at the financial institution identified on the slip. Please note that registration is not complete until all fees are paid.

Please note that all fees are to be paid in the equivalent local currency.

Orientation Programme

In order to prepare you for UWI Open Campus on-line environment, we offer the following 2 part Orientation Programme, which is COMPULSORY:-

1.ORIENTATION TO ONLINE LEARNING (OOL) [Free]

This course is intended to assist you in your preparation for online learning. The University is a dual-mode institution and the Open Campus has transformed its delivery mode to one in which all tutoring will be done on-line for graduate programmes. The course is designed to help you familiarize yourselves with the online learning management system, Moodle, which Open Campus uses for online teaching and learning. This course will be available during the period December 14-17, 2009.

2.GRADUATE -ORIENTATION TO ONLINE LEARNING (OOL6001) [US$60.00]

This course comprises a series of study units based on a range of general learning skills. These units are intended to assist you in strengthening your own capabilities for on-line study at the graduate level.

The unitscover academic writing, report writing, skills for managing one’s own study, skills for learning in an interactive environment. This course will be available during the period January 2-15, 2010.

These are non-credit courses. Nonetheless, they are compulsory for all incoming students.

The following are required textbooks for students accepted to read for the Post Graduate Diploma / Master of Education in Literacy Instruction andthe Master in Adult and Continuing Education:

Please note that a CD accompanies this text so that if you purchase a second hand copy you should request one that has the CD enclosed.

  4. EDAE6050 - History & Philosophy of Adult Education: Required text Philosophical Foundations of Adult Education (3rd edition, 2005) by John L. Elias and Sharan B. Merriam. Krieger Publishing Company, Florida, USA.
