Imagine that Macbeth took place today. What would the characters look like? What would they wear? Where would they live? What kind of music would they listen to?

Project components:

·  Create one of the following to represent a character from Macbeth:

Soundtrack, including a theme song for the character and one song for each act of the play that connects to a scene in which that character has a role. A written rationale for each piece of music must be included.

Costume design, presented in 2-D or 3-D, to include a signature costume and a costume for each act. A rationale for each costume must be included.

Set design, presented in 3-D, that represents the most important setting for the character. Include a prop that represents something from each act. A rationale that connects to each act must be included.

·  A creative essay of 300-400 words based on the character you selected. The essay is to be written in first person. The essay should explain who the character is and be guided by a controlling idea that is based on what you think the character wants in a particular scene. You must include at least one direct quotation in the essay.

·  A presentation, during which you will share your creative project and explain the rationale for each element.

Grading: you will receive a project grade for the creative element and presentation, and a formal writing grade for the essay.

·  For the creative element and presentation, grading is as follows:

Presentation: 30 points

Creative product (soundtrack, costume design, or set design): 30 points

Rationale: 40 points

·  The essay will be graded according to the rubric on the back of this page.
