· Team Officials HA registered report for team chargebacks due Nov. 16, 2015, over 5 rule ($37.50/official), team invoices to be sent out Dec. 1 and payable in 30 days
Jeff doesn’t think there is any deficiencies there.
Level Directors:
Darren Demchuk/Rachel Gregor-Stang
· Feedback Darren attended a coaching clinic and was given a reminder for all teams to have an emergency response plan, safety person’s job. Who is in charge incase an injury happens, ect…. Should executive come up with a plan for all team levels to follow? Plan a meeting with all team safety officials?
· Concerns/Issues/Highlights
Issue with parent in stands who started yelling at their own team’s player in the penalty box, then the teams coach started to yell across the ice at the parent….. The player was very upset.
Should time/score keepers speak with refs if this happens again? They should alert the referees to this issue. The referees have the authority to ask individuals to leave the arena, so does the team’s manager.
Make a sign for outside of the penalty box about fans not being allowed to disturb players or officials that are working in the box? Make a note in the box that game officials can inform referees of any unruly behavior happening in the stands/penalty box. Zero tolerance for verbal abuse.
Coaches amongst teams need to start communicating between each other to set up shared ice practices, ect. Not mandatory, but is encouraged to get players more ice time.
Teams within the association can share ice, you cannot invite outside teams from other associations…
Player Development – Wes Nessler
· Clinics to date
Player clinics: Bantam, Midget & Novice went well. For the Atom & PeeWee teams it was too congested with too many bodies. 26 for peewees, and 25 for atoms. Can we bring the instructors in for an additional 2 ice times? Use a teams practice? Cost to bring in instructions/additional ice is $500. If we use a teams ice time it will save $200. Verdict: Pay for instructors, use team practices to save on ice.
· Goalie clinic success Yes, they were good. Invited Chris back again for next year.
May want to buy a Ricochet, 3D goaltender(used instead of a tutor shooter?) Pocket in glove, pucks rebound off goalie. Bantam is asking for this. $400USD, Matt says there was a parent who said he may donate this item.
Wes’ extra Research: Power edge pro—training aid that Connor McDavid did? Will email it out to Jeff, Matt, ect.
Wes to go buy the PreNovice a new goalie stick because it’s too big?
Coach Development – Matt Nordstrom
· Coach qualifications – review current team deficiencies (deadline Nov. 15)
o Concerns All individuals with deficiencies have been notified and reminded of deadline
CRC Letter to be removed from website so that Matt can talk to them himself & send them the new letter.
Change wording for officials to carded officials to need Respect in Sport
something to talk about this summer---should managers need to be taking RIS?
What happens if a CRC comes back with a problem? Jeff & Matt to discuss between themselves, and to deal with it.
· Youth Coaches - protocol established
Coach has to fill out application & be approved by Matt. Needs to wear equipment. No deadline on accepting Jr. Coaches
Hockey AB clinic—a few coaches from Beaumont, Warburg, Devon but mostly NS! Hockey AB said this was the best attendance they have seen…every coach learned something new. Next year get them back and maybe do the goaltending clinic? Do it as another goaltender clinic. Do 1 clinic per year? Skating, Skills, Goaltending, Developing Defense, Small Arena Games(complete).
Next coaches get together in early December?
Ice Allocator – Trisha Galenza (not in attendance)
· Ice returns – any team chargeback required for Sept/Oct based on rules
o Charges for extra ice???
· Concerns/Issues/Highlights
Ref-in Chief/Ref Assignor – Darryl Holt/Cindy Lauer (not in attendance)
· Referee Clinic (Oct.17) – ref’s attended (outside vs. home)
· Concerns/Issues/Highlights
Fundraising/Commitment Coordinator – Jennifer Charette
· Updates
Dance- 45 in attendance, very disappointing.
Should we make association hosted events mandatory? Leduc hosts a Dinner/Dance midseason that was very well received? This was the 6th Dance, they said they would do it for 5 years. Prior to Halloween dance there was an adult only sweater dance held and it slowly declined in attendance each year.
· Upcoming events
· Fundraising ideas
Tofield does a raffle where every family has to pay $200 for 20 tickets and then it’s up to them to sell them.
Managers need to tell their teams to support association events, ect.
Should the association put items on the raffle tables at every tournament?
Next pizza kit is due Nov 24.
Loser pool in January? Wes? Steve Horner? To help out.
Ag Board Liaison –Jeff Laberge
News Meeting this Thursday. Voting to take place for new members. Teams to send out email reminding teams of the ag society fundraiser night.
· Issues needing to be sent to Ag Board
Letter to Ag -Water leaking from electrical outlet---Darren Demchuk informed arena attendant immediately that it was happening.
More seating in the girls dressing room, maybe add a bench? 4 girls atom b, girls from peewee come & it’s packed.
Raise level of ice around entire arena so it’s the same level at the boards as it is 3 inches from. Ice drops at the dasher board?
1660 League Report – Shawn Lauer (not in attendace, Jeff to speak)
· News, team placement, concerns
Make sure you are filling out the game sheets correctly so it doesn’t cause more work for others.
Before referees sign off on incident report, ensure home teams head coaches review game sheet before giving it to the opposing team.
Put this into the penalty box too for scorer/time keeper so they know to ask refs if they don’t understand anything that is happening so that penalties aren’t recorded wrong.
