Stiebel Eltron at the ISH: Welcoming the future

Building service solutions for the megatrends in society

“The world is changing rapidly – the only constant is change. Building services must also react to these changes. Future-proofing is the keyword here – and this is only possible if we know which megatrends shape social development. And this is the focus topic of our trade fair presentation. The motto of our stand is ‘Welcoming the future’ and here we will be presenting our solutions for the megatrends sustainability, urbanisation and connectivity”, says Dr. Nicholas Matten, Managing Director Sales & Marketing at Stiebel Eltron, describing the presentation of the German technology leader for heat technology at the ISH 2017.

Megatrend sustainability

Following the megatrend “sustainability” Stiebel Eltron is presenting new products that all meet one key demand: the desire for greater efficiency. “Milestones here are our new inverter air-water heat pumps: WPL 19/24 for modernisations for outdoor or indoor installation and WPL 09/17, which has been specially designed for new buildings”, says Dr. Nicholas Matten. “All solutions from Stiebel Eltron cater to the megatrend sustainability – from new heat pumps, ventilation systems, hot water solutions or complete building service solutions. The future belongs to renewable energies. Intelligent technologies and smart energy management lead to greater efficiency, lower costs, greater independence and allow flexibility.”

Megatrend urbanisation

Stiebel Eltron has identified “urbanisation” as a second megatrend. Dr. Nicholas Matten: “More and more people are drawn to cities. This increases the demands on hot water and heat supply: more and more people must be supplied in a smaller area – at a time when fossil energies are becoming ever scarcer and environmental pollution is becoming an increasing problem.” At the ISH Stiebel Eltron is presenting innovative solutions for heating and ventilation technology and for hot water supply in apartment buildings, tower blocks and other properties – for example the new WSP Duo home station, which not only conveniently transfers heating energy but has an integrated electric reheating function that also guarantees comfortable, efficient, reliable and hygienic water heating.

Megatrend connectivity

The influence of the third megatrend “connectivity” is growing rapidly in almost all areas of life – “needless to say, in building services in particular”, says Dr. Nicholas Matten. In an increasingly connected and digitalised world building services are also becoming ever more intelligent. Networked devices deliver optimal performance and can be controlled with a smartphone. Not only does this save energy, it also enhances comfort. From instantaneous water heaters with a Wi-Fi connection, weather forecast, Internet radio, app operation and Bluetooth interface to heat pumps and ventilation systems that can be conveniently monitored and set online – connectivity is a basic prerequisite for efficient operation of the systems. The new single room control Easytron Connect from Stiebel Eltron is a particularly good example of this: not only is the distribution system, i.e. the radiators or underfloor heating intelligently controlled – the system also communicates directly with the heat pump heating system so that its operation is permanently optimised. “As far as we know this direct feedback and resulting efficiency increase of the heat generator is unique on the market”, says Dr. Nicholas Matten.
