SUBJECT: Issue with programming MAX transmitters to L4

It has come to our attention that the new MAX transmitters and keypads are not programming to L4 using the standard out of box method as described in the devices instruction. When you do follow this method the L4 radio receiver appears to accept the 315mhz /E’ code. The receiver LED will flash a couple of times and then exit the programming mode automatically. The transmitter will not function although the receiver LED will flash indicating it sees a LM transmitter.

The transmitters are factory programmed so that the following codes are sent out with each button push during the programming sequence:

1st press….315/390 E’-Code

2nd press…315/ D’-Code

3rd press….390/ D’-Code

4th press….390/ B’-Code

------

The work around for this is to force the transmitter button(s) to send out the 315mhz/ D’ Code only.

*To learn the TRANSMITTER before programming to the operator, follow these steps:

  1. Enter LEARN mode on transmitter
  2. Press the TRANSMITTER button the desired number of times, for this case TWICE (315/D’ Code)
  3. Exit LEARN mode on transmitter

This procedure is required for each button on the transmitter. Now the transmitter can be programmed to the receiver following the normal procedure: Put receiver in LEARN mode, press and hold button on transmitter until receiver LED flashes several times rapidly, exit learn mode on receiver.

*To learn the KEYLESS ENTRY before programming to the operator, follow these steps:

  1. Press and hold the * and # until the lights on the keypad stop blinking (approx 6 seconds) and turns on solid
  2. Enter 4 digit PIN
  3. Press and release # key on the keypad
  4. Press and release “1” on the keypad for 315/D’ Code
  5. Press and release # key on the keypad to exit

The keypad is now programmed to send out 315/D’ Code only. Now the keypad can be programmed to the receiver following the normal procedure.

NOTE: This issue is only with Logic4. My testing indicates no programming issue using the standard out of box device programming instruction to Medium Duty Logic, Logic3, 312LM, and LA400.
