Job Context:
This Job Profile recognises the requirements of the current Pay and Conditions Regulations and reflects the visions, aims and policies established by the Governors of the school.
Roles:
  • Lead PPA Learning Support Assistant adhering to main LSA Class Based Job Profilewith additional responsibilities (attached).

Job Purpose:
  • To work under the professional direction of a teacher as part of a professional team to support learning activities for pupils.
  • To provide support to teachers and the school allowing qualified teachers to make even more effective use of their time, professional knowledge, skills and understanding.
  • To deliver lessons set by or with teachers and support pupils undertaking lessons, taking responsibility for the class during the teachers PPA allocation.
  • To contribute to pupil’s learning and have a significant impact on pupil achievement.

ADDITIONAL ACCOUNTABILITIES AND TASKS
Policy: Under supervision/guidance use and implement all school policies and procedures.
  • Ensure any changes to policy and procedure are acted on immediately.

Management of pupils: Act as a role model and maintain the established framework for discipline in line with established policies and classroom routines.
  • Anticipate and manage behaviour in order to promote self control and independence, to ensure good behaviour, respect for others and a safe environment.
  • Be aware of the individual social, emotional, and personal needs of the pupils in your care and respond accordingly, using strategies as established by the class teacher/SENCO

Management of People: Work as part of a team with the Support LSA and be able to use ones own initiative as well as working independently.
  • Establish constructive relationships with the Support LSA, communicating effectively and valuing a team approach.
  • Be flexible and manage time effectively.
  • Feedback to the class teacher at the end of each session, the outcomes of learning objectives and any issues, noting action for future learning and pupil well-being.

Management of Teaching and Learning: Deliver lessons set by or with teachers and support pupils undertaking the lessons.
  • Assist in the preparation and planning of lessons as appropriate, sharing knowledge, ideas and expertise.
  • Organise and manage an appropriate learning environment.
  • Assist the teacher in planning appropriate learning objectives to ensure pupil progress and development.
  • Deliver learning opportunities to pupils adjusting activities according to pupil needs, preparing, selecting and adapting resources to lead learning.
  • Provide feedback to pupils in order to support learning further.
  • Help pupils to assess their own learning.
  • Monitor and assess pupil learning and achievement of objectives.

Management of Pupil Welfare and Well-being: To provide for the welfare needs of all children to ensure the highest quality of well-being and care.
  • Use detailed knowledge of each pupil and specialist skills to promote inclusion, recognising and responding to individual, personal, social and emotional needs.

Management of Physical Resources : Develop, monitor and maintain physical resources in the classroom.
  • Support the use of ICT by ensuring a working knowledge of the programs/equipment to be used as part of the lesson to be delivered.
  • Ensure the classroom is tidied ready for the preparation of the next day’s teaching.

Administration – Ensure administrative requirements are fulfilled.
  • Complete the Evaluation form at the end of the session.
  • Complete the p.m. Attendance Register.

Personal Development – Take responsibility for ones own professional development in line with School Policy and the School Plan.
  • Attend meetings as directed with the Year Group Senior Leader.
  • Draw to the attention of the class teacher and/or Year Group Senior Leader, any areas in which you feel additional support, advice and training is required relevant to the role of Lead LSA
