CMP Sanctioned John Garand (GSM) Clinic and Match

GSM -(Garand, Springfield and Military Rifle)

Location: Gateway Rifle & Pistol Club – Jacksonville, Florida

Date: October 27th & 28th, 2012

Event: Garand, Springfield and Military Rifle (GSM) clinic and match

Time schedule: Clinic (classroom) will be on Sat. October 27th from 10am to 4pm

(inside on airgun range) taught by CMP Master Instructor – Terry Pitts

Match will be on Sun. October 28th starting at 8am.(on 200yrd range) for 1st relay

Equipment: Open to: M1 Garand, Unlimited M1 Garand, 1903 Springfield,

Vintage Military and Modern Military rifles (with open or optical sights)

Ammunition: Participants are to provide their own ammunition.

Some 30-06 ammo may be available to purchase

Course of Fire: John C. Garand Match (A) 30 shot course of fire at 200 yards on SR target

5 sighter shots – any position

10 shots - slow fire prone

10 shots - rapid fire prone

10 shots - slow fire standing

Open To: All - 14 years of age or older...Juniors must be accompanied by a parent

Rules: Match will be conducted under CMP Competition Rules,

All new participants must have a signed and notarized copy of the

CMP Eligibility Affidavit and Liability Agreement - a copy can be

downloaded here:

If you have ever submitted one at any CMP event ever before then you

do not need to submit one again.

Awards: Certificates of Achievement will be presented to all participants

who complete the clinic with match

CMP Achievement pins will be presented to competitors

that equal or exceed established achievement award scores that are

listed in the CMP Competition rules. Only for “As Issued” M1 Garand,

Springfield or Vintage Miltary Rifles (see Rules 9.2.4, 9.3.4, 9.4.4 and 9.5.4).

Other: Experienced shooters, if they wish, may compete in the match only

Clinic participants have first priority for squadding,

Entry fee is $10 per relay, sign-up and squadding will take place on the 200 range

reentries will be allowed after everyone has had a chance to shoot once

Competitors will also be eligible for CMP Achievement Pins

if they equal or exceed the established award scores with an “As Issued”

Garand, Springfield or Vintage Military Rifle.

Participants will need to bring – rifle, 2 - magazines,or M1 clips or stripper

clips for bolt rifles (if possible), sling, shooting mat or pad, eye and ear protection,

a spotting scope or binoculars. Some M1 clips will be available to use.
