Job purpose
To lead the Physiotherapy Team in their management and delivery of Physiotherapy Services to the Universities performance athletes, priority sports athletes, TASS athletes, and commercial clients of all ages and abilities alongside other university focussed projects and client groups.
The role will involve line managing the physiotherapy team, delivery physiotherapy services as a practitioner and communication with University staff within the DSDR and other departments to develop physiotherapy provision and to build Continual Professional Development opportunities to maintain a high standard of practice and delivery.

You will be required to take an active role in the development of the physiotherapy teams CPD programme and the integrated CPD programme across the Sport Science and Medicine (SSM) Team.
Special conditions
This role includes at least one evening a week alongside additional evening, weekend, and bank holiday hours. An element of flexibility is required for this role to meet the P&SSC business demand.
Principal Duties/Responsibilities: /
1. / To work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team of support staff within the Centre and to lead the delivering of best-practice physiotherapy services to the university population, general public and athletes of all ages and abilities.
2. / To liaise with consultants, coaches and national governing body staff who have the capacity to contribute to the enhanced physiotherapy services for all our clients.
3. / To work within the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy’s, the Health Care Professions Council’s and the University’s Codes of Conduct and keep documentation on all aspects of injury management in accordance with the industry standard.
4. / Contribute to the continued development of a comprehensive data base of the assessment and treatment of athletes/clients.
5. / Within the rules of professional confidentiality to liaise with other members of the support team as appropriate.
6. / Planning & delivering specified income generating activities which integrate physiotherapy, sports medicine and sport science support. In particular to lead the development of best-practice standards in Sport and Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy.
7. / Take responsibility for continued personal and professional development of self and significantly contribute to the development of other staff in the department through sharing of good practice via the cross-profession CPD programme.
8. / Deliver educational material both orally and in written form to athletes, coaches and other client groups.
9. / Line manage physiotherapy staff on a daily basis.
10. / To lead a team of Physiotherapists, and standardise policies and procedures to align best practice.
11. / To keep up-to-date with progressions within the profession and manage the strategic development of services with the Sports Science and Medicine Manager.
12. / Physiotherapy delivery:
·  Appropriate assessment, treatment, prehabilitation, rehabilitation, and education to individual patients.
·  Sport specific rehabilitation and production of individual exercise programmes for injured patients.
·  Monitoring and reporting of treatment in an appropriate manner in line with data protection and confidentiality policies.
·  Assessment of players/athletes sporting technique and sport specific skills as incorporated into a planned rehabilitation programme.
·  Testing for fitness post injury as a component of final rehabilitation.
·  Provide field support for squads and coaches as required.
·  Evening work will be a requirement of this role.
·  Show initiative in developing physiotherapy programmes within performance-focussed university based sports.
·  Perform other reasonable duties as may be required from time to time

Qualifications
Ø  A qualification at degree level (or equivalent) in physiotherapy.
Ø  Membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (MCSP) and registration with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Ø  Bronze/Silver/Gold ACPSEM Accreditation
Ø  Current First Aid or Basic Life Support Qualification from a recognised organisation.
Ø  Current Sports Trauma/ Pitch-side Qualification from ACPSEM recognised body
Ø  A post-graduate qualification at Masters Levels in sport and exercise medicine/sport physiotherapy/sport rehabilitation/musculoskeletal field is desirable. / Yes

Experience / Knowledge:
Ø  Extensive experience as a practising Chartered Physiotherapist.
Ø  Substantial experience of working in Sports Physiotherapy, preferably with athletes of all ages and abilities.
Ø  A Member of ACPSEM and working towards the CPD pathway
Ø  Experience in youth sport.
Ø  An understanding of current sport medicine issues relating to physiotherapy provision and best-practice.
Ø  Experience of developing and implementing innovative ideas and putting them into practice, including working in an applied and integrated manner.
Ø  Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary (IDT) and inter-disciplinary team (MDT) in the delivery of sport physiotherapy.
Ø  Experience line managing staff.
