Job Purpose

  • To run Soft Play sessions (2-3years) twice a week on Tuesday and Thursdaysmornings with another worker, to provide supervised play for up to two hours each session. (0-2 years will be able to access the soft play but the parent has to stay with their child)10am – 12pm.

And or:

  • To provide a weekly after school Chill Out Youth Club (11-17 years) on Tuesday afternoons 5pm – 7pm
  • To provide a weekly after school Hang Out Club (5-11 years) on Thursday afternoons 3.15 – 5.15pm.
  • To participate and support half term and summer trips.

Responsibilities of Play Worker – managing soft play sessions

Soft Play Sessions Tuesday and Thursday:

  1. Set up a range of activity stations allowing free play, with the help of other worker and volunteers.
  2. Register and sign in parents and children when they arrive
  3. Collect weekly subscriptions
  4. Supervise children and free play throughout the session
  5. Administer first aid and carry out reporting procedure, if necessary
  6. Ensure Health and Safety standards are maintained at all time
  7. Monitor and report progress of the session, any problems and make suggestions for new equipment and activities.
  8. Manage behaviour of participants and identifying any SEN (special educational needs)
  9. Manage the session end and dismiss participants safely to parents or guardians.

Responsibilities of Play Worker – managing Hang Out After School Club Thursday Afternoon:

  1. Set up a range of activity stations allowing free play,with the help of volunteers.
  2. Register and sign in Hang Out participants when they arrive
  3. Identify Bountagu children when registering
  4. Collect weekly subscriptions
  5. Engage all participants in free play throughout the session
  6. Administer first aid and carry out reporting procedure, if necessary
  7. Monitor and report progress of the session, any problems and make suggestions for new equipment and activities.
  8. Manage behaviour of participants and identifying SEN (special educational needs)
  9. Create on the spot group activities where the participants are not engaging effectively.
  10. Use computer and gaming equipment
  11. Support half term and summer trips
  12. Manage the session end and dismiss participants safely to parents or guardians.

Responsibilities of Play Worker – managing the Chill Out Youth Club Tuesday Afternoon :

  1. Register and sign in Chill Out participants when they arrive
  2. Ensure participants are able to engage in homework or activities.
  3. Administer first aid and carry out reporting procedure, if necessary
  4. Monitor and report progress of the session, any problems and make suggestions for development and activities.
  5. Address any behaviour issues and provide for SEN (special educational needs)
  6. Encourage engagement in development initiatives for young people in the area, including work experience, internships and enterprise initiatives e.g Freedom E.
  7. Oversee safe use of computer and gaming equipment
  8. Support half term and summer trips
  9. Manage the session end and dismiss participants safely.

WORKING HOURS: Optional 2 - 8 Hours per week.
