2012 HOMECOMING PARADE
Thank you for agreeing to participate in the WSU 2012 Homecoming Parade on Saturday October 20 at 10:00am. We are excited to have you participate! This will prove to be a creative and fun event with our theme of Blast From the Past!
Line-Up
Line-up will begin at 9am on Broadway west of Huff Street to Grand Street, including Harriet Street by Windom Park. Your unit’s position is indicated in the attached parade roster.
Parade Route
Start at Broadway and Huff Street; proceed to Mark (11th) Street; turn left. You may disperse from there.
Awards
Campus organization entries will be judged for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places and will receive cash prizes that will be transferred to their university accounts.
Restrooms
This year there will be a port-a-potty available for use in Windom Park, on Broadway and Huff Street. Please be respectful of our neighbors who live on the parade route and line-up areas and utilize the port-a-potty we are providing.
Parade Regulations
1. All floats must have their group name clearly visible on both sides of the exhibit.
2. There is no throwing of candy from the float during the parade, but you may have people HANDING things out to the crowds.
3. In accordance with Municipal laws, there is a ZERO TOLERANCE policy for alcohol during the parade. There will be no alcoholic beverages allowed on any of the floats. Any representation of alcohol, written or insinuated, is prohibited. Anyone found in violation of these codes will be subject to removal from the parade and legal action by the police. The Winona Police Department will be patrolling the parade route.
