Reach and impact / The digital projects executive will work as part of the Education digital team, which provides online first aid education to the public and facilitates the booking of face to face first aid courses.

Context

The Red Cross is the largest voluntary humanitarian organisation in the world. It promotes humanitarian values and provides emergency help to people in short term crisis in the UK and overseas. Within the UK, the British Red Cross operates through 28,000 volunteers and 3,000 staff.

The Education Services team has overall accountability for the strategic education offer in first aid and humanitarian education. We are focused on building individual and community resilience, reducing the risk of vulnerability, and developing ability, confidence and a willingness to act. We are responsible for increasing reach through direct delivery, positioning, and supporting local areas in their delivery.

Overall purpose of the role

To work as part of the Education marketing team in the implementation of specific website development plans. To support the Digital Manager with project management of website and technical projects to optimise user journeys and help meet sales targets.

Main responsibilities and duties

1.  To support with, and also independently project manage development and delivery of web based Education projects across www.redcrossfirstaidtraining.co.uk, defining user stories, test scripts, and time scales with an external web development agency.

2.  Working closely with the product and marketing teams to support with, and also independently project manage, standalone digital Education projects, such as microsites and app development.

3.  To work with the Digital Manager to scope development plans for the year ahead, using customer insight, trends and innovation to inform decision.

4.  To ensure www.redcrossfirstaidtraining.co.uk and the Education pages on www.redcross.org.uk comply with best practise, policy, and AA accessibility standards.

5.  Work in conjunction with Education marketing managers to shape and execute digital elements of campaign activity.

6.  To log and progress all website bugs with our digital agency and System Support team, working with the digital manager to coordinate the release of fixes to the live environment.

7.  To monitor web statistics using Google Analytics and other monitoring tools for www.redcrossfirstaidtraining.co.uk and Education pages on www.redcross.org.uk, feed findings into the monthly digital report, making recommendations and improvements as appropriate.

8.  To monitor and compile online competitor activity and analysis for both www.redcrossfirstaidtraining.co.uk and www.redcross.org.uk

9.  Attend relevant digital and innovation meetings and conferences to keep up to date with technologies, opportunities and online development.

10. Maintain strong working relationships with third party service providers that support www.redcrossfirstaidtraining.co.uk and any online Education marketing channels.

11. Undertake any other duties as required by the digital manager in line with Education objectives.

12. Ensure a safe working environment enforcing best practice in accordance with Health and Safety Policy.

13. Uphold the fundamental principles of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and to work within the Society’s Equal Opportunities Policy.

Requirements

Education & training

/   Educated to A level or equivalent **
  Educated to degree level desirable but not essential

Experience

/   At least 2 years’ experience of working in a digital environment**
  Project management experience in web development**
  Familiar with working within an Agile environment – desirable
  Experience of Google Analytics and content management systems
  Worked in a commercial results-driven environment
  Worked with external agencies

Skills & knowledge

/   Confident and professional approach to online customer interaction through email and online forums
  Excellent written communication and proof-reading skills**
  Use of enterprise content management systems for web page publishing
  Good understanding of search engine optimisation**
  Use of Microsoft Office – particularly Excel and Word
  Knowledge of HTML and CSS – desirable
  Use of Photoshop/image editing software – desirable
