TLW read with fluency.
TLW answer comprehension questions.
The teacher will read pages 1-3 and the Oral Language Lesson on p. 124 before beginning this Reader. Introduce new sight words. (See p.123.)

Objective: TLW read sight words with speed and accuracy.

Section C-Ten Minute Phonics
1/3 of the group time
Materials: Reader #38 p. 6-7, Manual p. 120-121, Toolbox Decks23 and27, The Word House Book pages 20 and 21.
Objective: TLW sound out words using the Long Vowels sounds.
TLW switch long and short vowels.
TLW understand there are rules to follow when sounding out words.
Procedure: Review The Word House Book pages 16-19.
Students should be able to sound out any word from Decks 23 and 27. Students are no longer required to use onset and rime.
The teacher will mix up Decks 23 and 27 and have the students count the vowels in the words.
*Most important lesson in Ten Minute Phonics (p. 126)
The teacher will tell the story of the switching room. Students will practice changing vowels sounds.

TLW identify what is missing in each picture.
TLW use picture clues to help with comprehension.
Procedure:
Go over sight words.
The teacher then randomly calls on the students to read the sentences on pages 43-48 of ThinkerBox Chapter 7.
Discuss the pictures and story.
