Meeting Minutes – October 13, 2016
Attendees: Pam Sultzaberger, Erika Frank, Lou Waleff, Anne Fitzpatrick, America Schwartz, Kristina Thompson, Linda Murphy, Brenda Blackburn-Foster, Edie Herigan, Dawn Bowers Students: MickeySultzaberger, Dustin Waleff, Savay ThompsonPrincipal: Ken Miller
Call to Order/Welcome:Pam Sultzaberger, PTSO President, opened the meeting at 7:02 pm.
Approval of September 2016 Minutes: The September meeting minutes will be reviewed at the November meeting after they are posted on the web site.
Secretary’s Report: No correspondence.
Treasurer’s Report: Treasurer Erika Frank reviewed the budget and the 2016-2017 Financial Statement. Spirit wear sale was very successful.19 Save Around Books have been sold to date. The current checking account balance is $10,908.77 and savings balance is $1,460.86. The Financial Statement will be filed for audit.
Membership: President Sultzaberger reported that 2016-2017 Staff PTSO memberships have been down. She will work with Principal Miller to increase staff memberships.

Committee/Activity Reports:
Staff Appreciation:
-Staff Events - Erika Frank, Chair, reported on the upcoming Fall breakfast event scheduled for 10/27; an emailsign-up sheet is going to PTSO member volunteersseekingdonations.
-Staff Gift: Dustin Waleff, Chair, held the monthly drawing; Deborah Cook won school supplies.
Hospitality: Erika Frank, Chair, reported that the PTSO supplied refreshments for the Homecoming dance. This was the last hospitality committee event of the year. A Thank You email was received from Ms. Hogentogler (Student Council advisor) for the refreshments.
PAC Advisory Committee & School Board: Michelle Schooley will chair and JulieHalbert will be the back-up.
Scholarship: Anne Fitzpatrick, Chair, noted that theCDHS PTSO scholarship application and information will be posted on the PTSO website as soon as timeframes for scholarship applications are received from CDHS Guidance; generally the end of January with applications typically due the beginning of April 2017.
Wish List: Edie Herigan, Chair, reported that C. Fickesrequested four 50 gallon totes for the classroom.
Website: Pam Sultzaberger is working on updating the website; September Meeting Minutes will be posted.
Fundraising:
HERCO – Linda Topp, chair, continues to notify and coordinate HERCO volunteers. The PTSOis looking for someone to take over for Linda as new Herco fundraising chairman.
Save Around Books – currently for sale- The PTSO earns $10.00 on each book sold. (The coupons can also be used in other cities.)
Spirit Sale – Order was submitted.
New Business: President Sultzaberger reported on theresignation of CDHS PTSO VP Gayle Evan. President Sultzaberger motioned for nomination of Kristina Thompson as CDHS PTSO Vice President for 2016-17. Motion was seconded by Lou Waleff. Motion was approved unanimously.
Old Business: None
School Club Report: Mickey Sultzaberger, member of the Green Power club, reported briefly on its’ activities, including work with solar panels. Meetings are held on Fridays and Mr. Leuschner was the advisor last year.
Ms. Blackburn-Foster, CDHS librarian and advisor for Quiz Bowl and Science Olympiad, briefly described Science Olympiad activities.
Principal’s Report: Mr. Ken Millerreported on the following:
- Homecoming weekend - very successful with a well- attended Homecoming Dance on Friday evening, a pancake breakfast Saturday morning, and the afternoon football game.
The tailgate has been rescheduled to October 21.
- Activity occurring in the building today and his email/communication to parents/guardians concerning same. Dr. Johnson, CDSD Superintendent, also issued communication to parents/guardians concerning events at CDHS including a communication at the end of the day. All threats of violence were fully addressed and investigated by school and law enforcement authorities and the district confirmed there were no credible threats.
- Mr. Miller confirmed that the school/district will contact parents/guardians in the event of a need for pick-up of students by same at CDHS.
