Notes:

§  Students will enter classroom and go immediately to assigned rotation. Rotational chart must be clearly posted

§  During small group instruction for READ 180 students, teachers will implement rBook lessons, first Whole Group lessons (left side of TE) and then Small Group lessons (right side of TE).

Suggestions for modeled/independent reading rotations:

§  Make sure students are correctly matched to READ 180 paperbacks based on Lexile score from SRI. If level one books are still too hard, find alternate book at appropriate level.

§  Students will need to fill out independent reading log and quick write everyday. These must be reviewed by teacher on a regular basis, with comments, checkmarks, and/or questions to let students know you are keeping them accountable for this work.

§  Stop rBook instruction after the following checkpoints to use small groups for reading conferences: rBook reading instruction, rBook writing instruction, and end of workshop.

§  If there is a second teacher in the room s/he will work with students during modeled/independent reading, S/he will either conduct guided reading sessions with the group or conduct reading conferences with individual

§  If there is no second teacher, and there are students who cannot read for 20 minutes independently, the teacher will first put the students on the easiest audio books until they can provide specific reading instructions for the 20 minutes. Please contact Pam to determine specific guidelines based on student levels.
