ST ANDREWS

St Andrews is a beautiful coastal town in the Kingdom of Fife. The University, founded in 1411, is the oldest in Scotland. Both the town and University feature many fine buildings and sites of cultural interest, including the ruined of medieval castle and cathedral, and the famous ‘Old Course’. SCHOOL OF CLASSICS

The venue for the conference is the School of Classics. The School is based in Swallowgate, on the corner of Butts Wynd and The Scores, overlooking St Andrews Bay. TRAVEL

St Andrews is accessible by car and public transport. The nearest railway station is Leuchars, on the East Coast Main Line. The journey by bus or taxi from Leuchars station to the centre of St Andrews takes approximately 15 minutes. The nearest airports to St Andrews are Dundee and Edinburgh. ACCOMMODATION

St Andrews has many Bed and Breakfast establishments in the town centre, within easy walking distance of the School of Classics. Search under Kingdom of Fife, and a sort of the results in reverse alphabetical order will bring up St Andrews addresses. REGISTRATION

The deadline for Registration is 1 May 2009.

The conference fee of £10 covers conference documents, lunch and morning and afternoon refreshments. Postgraduate students may attend without charge, but need to register.

The dinner will be in a local restaurant, and there will be an additional charge. Please let us know if you wish to join us.
