Directions – Page through Chapters 18, 19, 20. Read the pages indicated in the questions below and answer in the space provided. This assignment will highlight the big ideas and important concepts that will be beneficial for you to know as we move into the second semester of World History.
CHAPTER 18: CONFLICT & ABSOLUTISM IN EUROPE
- Read “The Story Matters” on page 337. In 17th century Europe, Absolutism was a reaction to

CHAPTER 19: THE MUSLIM EMPIRES
- Read “The Story Matters” on p. 359. Name the 3 Muslim Empires that “reached the height of their power between 1450 & 1800.” ______

- Examine the map on page 361. What is the geographic relationship between the Ottoman Empire and the Christian world?

CHAPTER 20: THE EAST ASIAN WORLD
*Read the first paragraph on page 376. Then look at the map on p. 377. There are 2 big ideas you will need to remember regarding East Asia...
