2017 NAPLAN data released

Year 3 and year 5 children have continued to show improvement in NAPLAN results again this year with year 3 performing extremely well across the five test areas. Parents are reminded that NAPLAN comprises “point-in-time” tests and results may not accurately reflect a student’s literacy and numeracy ability or align with classroom achievement. Some children perform very well on NAPLAN, while others do not. There are a number of factors that can account for the difference. Should parents of year 3 or year 5 children wish to discuss their child’s NAPLAN results, please contact the relevant teacher.
Parent-Teacher Interviews

This event will take place in week 8 on Tuesday 29 August. Interviews will be held in the Resource Centre. Bookings can be made via www.schoolinterviews.com.au and entering the code 6wdv8. If you have not had an opportunity to meet formally with your child’s teacher to discuss their progress, please take advantage of this opportunity. Semester Two Report Cards will be released in week 10 of term 4.
Prep Open Day

Families wanting to know about Prep at Minden can come along to our Open Day on Thursday 31 August. 2018 Prep children will get to experience a range of typical activities in the classroom while parents will be provided with a brief overview of what our school offers and how to prepare their child for Prep. Our “Step into Prep” transition afternoons will be held in term 4.
Enrolments 2018

If you know of someone who is interested in becoming part of our Minden school community in 2018, please encourage them to collect an enrolment pack as soon as possible. Similarly, should your child/ren not be returning to Minden in 2018, we would appreciate being informed as soon as possible. Many of our classes are either over capacity or nearing capacity and student numbers in various year levels help determine class formations and teacher placements.
Woolworths Earn and Learn

Thank you to those families who have already begun collecting stamps for our school. The promotion runs until 19 September. Individual stamps or completed sheets can be returned to school and placed in the box in the foyer.

Teacher Profile

Kelsie Swan - Year 4 Teacher
I first came to Minden in 2015 to complete a three week placement with Year 5/6. I immediately fell in love with the school community and returned in 2016 to complete my final internship for four weeks with Year 3. I was fortunate enough to be offered my very first position in Year 4and am loving every minute of it! I have always had a passion for education and feel privileged to have the opportunity to work with the incredible students and staff here at Minden. It is a absolute pleasure working with the students in Year4and their energy and charisma brightens each day.
I enjoy photography, and often spend my weekends capturing special memories for many local families. I lovespending time withfriends and like to take any opportunity to travel out to Roma to visit my family. I like to stay busy and active and currently live in the local area with my two fur babies.
