RESOLUTION No. 2015-32

Expanding Outdoor Burning Restrictions on Private Lands in Skamania County

WHEREAS, the Skamania County Fire Marshall issued an emergency closure effective June 24, 2015 pursuant to Skamania County Code 8.14.040 that expands the 2015 Burn Ban to include recreational burning (camp fires) on all lands within Skamania County not under the jurisdiction of the Department of Natural Resources or Federal government to protect life and property; and

WHEREAS, the emergency closure by the Fire Marshall runs through June 30, 2015 and requires the Board of County Commissioners to extend the ban if they determine that conditions are warranted beyond the 7-day emergency closure; and

WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners have determined that extreme fire conditions continue throughout Skamania County.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that extremely dry conditions hereby exist in Skamania County and long range projections from the National Weather Service are for continued dry patterns throughout the summer months; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Skamania County Board of Commissioners expands the outdoor burn ban to include all recreational fires whether in an open pit or an approved fire enclosure on all lands within Skamania County that are not under State or Federal jurisdiction effective 12:01 a.m. Wednesday July 1, 2015; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that any violation of this resolution shall subject the violator to the penalties set out in County Code 8.14.070; and

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that this ban will remain in place until such time the Board of County Commissioners lifts this restriction with an official Board action.
